The new GSXR...smaller than a Ninjette!

Went to the NY Int'l Motorcycle Show last weekend.

The 2011 GSXR is calling my name. Fits me like a glove, and I'm one of those guys who doesn't need to, but strongly prefers to, put more than his toes on the ground and doesn't want to modify (read compromise) the bike to do it.

The bike feels incredibly small and light for a supersport... a lot like my newgen 250, in fact. I checked out the published specs and sure enough, this thing is tiny.

The GSXR wheelbase is 0.4 inches shorter, it's a wee bit narrower (0.1 inches) and the overall bike is a whopping 2 inches shorter. And it's not all that heavy... even the 750 has a curb weight of only 419 lbs.

Because of the small size, I found the ergos to be pretty darned nice. Sitting forward in the seat with my arms bent appropriately, I didn't feel stressed (i.e. craning my neck to see). Scooting back and putting my chest on the tank was pretty comfortable, too.

For the record, I'm 5'7" if I eat my Wheaties and wear pants with a 30" inseam. My body has more or less average proportions.

I'm the same way and ended up lowering my CBR to fit me.. I guess I should've waited a year and got a Gixxer.

I had no problem flat footing on the ninja and a 650 .. not on a 600 or 1000 though.

Andrew, what are we talking about, 600, 750, or 1000?

They should all be about the same size but which one do you like?

I've had Suzuki bikes since the 60's and always loved them. I still have a few.

Andrew, you sound like you're the exact same height and inseam I am. Check out the new ZX-10 as well. It feels the same way you described the Gixxer.

I always liked the 750 better than the 600 (girl's bike). The only reason to buy the 600 is if you want to race with ten thousand other Jr. racers.

Now the 1000 is the real street/track bike!

The seat height on a Ninja 250 I believe is 30.5 inches. I did a search and found the 2011gsxr seat height is about 31.9 inches. Did it feel as comfortable or more comfortable seat height then the 250? I have about the same inseam and curious. Might just need to go sit on one when the dealers get them in.

Suzuki shaved some weight off of the GSXR. Performance-wise, it's excellent. Motorcycle News ranked it as the #1 600 for 2011. But, the new look... I am not a fan.

I'm 6'0 and the Yamaha's are the only bike I have ever been on that I couldn't flat foot. They make great track bikes but horrible street bikes.

LOL look at that tach needle jump when it hits about 11k in 1st. Ludicrous business.

Also, 170+mph on a 600. I think my butt just exploded.

Maybe you should just be taller and quit trying to ruin (make smaller) all the bikes for the rest of us normal sized people

R6's are notoriously tall though, no way you'll ever fit on one if you're worried about seat height.

In the meantime.. I sat on my friends 03 GSXR750 a while back, and it didn't feel all that much bigger, and the weight felt less. If I had to guess, I'd say that it felt lighter because it probably had a lower center of gravity.

And when it comes to bikes being small.. I am 5'7" with an inseam 29 or less, so all bikes are big on me, hahaha. Makes backing up a pain, so I usually get off and walk it. Riding, though, it makes no difference.

So get yourself a GSXR and be the exception to the rule!
you don't have to be a squid douchbag combo.
WTF are you waiting for Suzi rules the road. There's a reason they fit you so nice.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
They were made to be the best!

Don't believe me?
Than why can they ask $2000 more than any other 600 for a GSXR and get it?
You don't have to be a douchebag to ride one of the best motorcycles on the planet.
Just have to want to treat yourself to the best of the best!
Man even my old ones were nice.
I need another Suzuki GSXR.

So? Buck the trend and be a bold individualist.

I'm old enough to got give a crap what anyone else thinks.

Some guy named Lance Armstrong (you may have heard of him) wrote a book called "It's Not About the Bike."

In 2005 when I got my R6 I made a post on the R6 forum about how bad it hurt to sit on.
got rid of it and never regretted it. I never did such a post in the GSXR forums. Always regret it every time I get rid of one.

I can't find painful seat post but here's proof I had the R6 in 2005
http://www.r6-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20544

Here's me posting in 2005 about wheelies with a 99 gsxr (second post)
http://www.gsxr.com/showthread.php?t=1992&page=2

GSXR's are nice comfy high end fine tuned machines.

A 600 would be a girl's bike? What does that make the 250 we ride?

The 600 is a girls bike. For learners (with bicycle and dirtbike experience).

The 250 is for people who've never ridden anything before or want to budget their bike.

I began on a GSXR 600 and never crashed it. No MSF, but I had prior dirtbike experience.

I dropped the first GSXR once at a stop sign when my pants became tangled on the peg.
Noob mistake.

Never even tipped my second bike, the '02 R6.

For me the 250 happens to be working out as a learning bike that you don't fawk around in the canyons at your extreme limit, and I'm also learning to stunt with it because I played with lesson one and failed. I originally purchased it as my third motorcycle, as a budget bike.

got rid of it and never regretted it. I never did such a post in the GSXR forums. Always regret it every time I get rid of one.

I can't find painful seat post but here's proof I had the R6 in 2005
