I was working today and realized how sloppy I'm getting with my working out and eating habits. No longer do I work out for 1-2hrs a day, stick to a very strict diet, etc. I now eat everything in site, and have gained 10lbs to a near ultimate high of 180 (I'm 6'0)

What's the first thing that came up in my head? The ninja.


I'm pissed when a bike comes with an extra 25lbs that's completely unnecessary, so I wonder what my ninja thinks each time I sit on her?

lose the love handles - 5lbs
shave the double chin - 2lbs
trim the legs - 7lbs
get some abs - 3lbs

So, I'm getting a membership at the local YMCA to shape up through the winter. My goal is to drop to 165, gain ultimate flexibility, and get myself looking like I used to a couple of months ago.

In addition to this all, I was thinking of purchasing another bike this summer. Although I prolly still will due to splurges, a lot is stopping me from doing so right now. If you think of all the kids out there that immediately jump to 600CC SS bikes, you'll instantly notice they have no idea how to PROPERLY control their bike. A sad fact is that around this area, there isn't a 600/750 out there that can keep up with me in the corners. They have no idea what a proper leaning position, no confidence in their machinery, so naturally, when they ride with me, they're very surprised the little 250 can even come out of a corner.

They're obviously not seeing the picture -

While, yes, the 600's could pull from the 250 w/o even breathing, my 250 is ALMOST track ready -

140/80 Sport deamon rear tire ( sticky as hell, cannot break traction when it's at least 80degrees outside )
Woodcraft lowered risers ( much better positioning for a natural lean-in)
EBC HH front brake pads
soon to be stainless brake lines
and a 13tooth front sprocket for better get-go out of the corner

Now, even at the end of the ride, they have little to NO respect for the 250. I'm not a man easily deprived of his status, simply because I've only driven 4 Bangers as my previous cars, but the COMPLETE lack of respect when I say nothing that my bike is faster, I can pull quicker wheelies, or I can pull stronger quarter miles.. I just kick their ass around the twisties.

I'm comfortable with that, it's natural in the winter. I'll trim off a few when spring show up and I work outside more again.

I actually used to live up there in Springfield, most of my life. I miss the four seasons, but I can ride year-round here.

Zartan and Sunny... if it helps to make you feel any better, it's been cold and raining here for the last few days. I'm at work and the rain is steadily falling, temp is 62 degrees, humidity at 100%.

It was snowing in Louisiana/Mississippi the other day, think it was right up to the Alabama border. I was hoping it was gonna snow here, would have been sweet.

I'm currently telling myself that 34 isn't that cold, not with full gear and layers, especially if I don't go toooooo fast, and it's sunny, and there's no wind today which is super-rare..... so very tempted......

I remember a light snow in MS when I was there for tech school many moons ago. I had Suzuki 250 2 stroke at the time and would go zipping around at night in the back roads freezing my ass off.

The worst was the summer there. I don't see how you guys stand living on the gulf coast with that heat and HUMIDITY! That is the worst weather I have ever been in. 100 degree temps w/ 100% humidity and the sky was blue! Hated it!!

We too have a lemon tree in the backyard. It's dark out, so no picture to post... but we do have a lot of fruit in the backyard. Here's a list:

1. Lemons (Eureka, I think... but the tree produces fruit all year round)
2. Peaches (3 trees)
3. Santa Rosa Plums (purple plum)
4. Yellow Plums (2 trees)
5. Apricots (2 trees)
6. Cherries (2 trees)
7. Asian Pears (2 trees)
8. Persimmons, Fuyu
9. Naval Oranges
10. Mandarin Oranges (well, not sure if they are mandarin, but they are small and tangy, but yummy)
11. Grapes... I haven't seen any fruit since the first year we moved to the house... I don't know how to take care of them... The vine grows like crazy, but no fruit!

There used to be alot of strawberries too, but I didn't keep up with their care, so there's only a few of them left.

We love our yard - great for the kid and dog and I love eating the fruits! The only problem is in the spring when the Peaches are ripe, then the Plums (about two weeks after the peaches), and then finally the Apricots (~2 weeks after the plums). Each type of fruit ripens all at once and there's soooooo much fruit, we don't know what to do with it! Our neighbors get a lot of it, and so do the folks at work. The rest I make into pies, tarts, cobblers, and what doesn't get baked, gets put in the freezer. Most of the baked goods end up at work too... Can't fatten up Alex too much .

So kkim, what do you do with all of your lemons? I give mine away to a friend who likes to make lemonade. Other than lemonade, I've never found a recipe that needed 10 pounds of lemons. I used to make lemonade, but there's only so much of it you can drink.

Hi Annie, Plums are awesome dried. Yum and lemon pie is good.
The meyer ones I used to eat off the tree.
I think if I remember grapes produce on last seasons growth. Any growth over 2 years or older usually does not produce.

Yep, lemonade using splenda as I'm diabetic, but as you said, using all the lemons when the tree is in full bloom is difficult to do. We give some to as many friends as want them, but that still leaves a ton of lemons left. In past years, most of them were just discarded, but this year, we called around and found that the local hospitals and care homes were eager to accept them. I guess anything to keep their running costs down is a good thing.

I would highly suggest you donate them to an organization that serves a lot of food.

Sounds like you have a bunch of yummy fruit trees that I wouldn't mind planting too, but there is a real problem with birds here. Unless the fruit has a tough outer skin, they will eat all of the fruit before it's ripe, so I need to be selective on what I plant. I had a big fig tree that would have a ton of fruit, but we never got to eat much cause the fruit was always pecked on by the birds by the time they were ready to eat. The same with tomato plants we tried to grow around the house. The birds see ripe fruit and they attack!

We have 2 lychee trees, some banana trees, and an avocado tree that is about a year old. Some wild guava trees surround the yard in the back. I'm planning to put in a grapefruit and a tangerine tree in the near future.

As you must know, fresh fruit out of your own back yard cannot be beat. yum!

I definitely agree. It's not as bad at higher elevations, like Blacksburg, but I grew up spending 2 months of my summer in southwest Florida every year. I would play golf at everyday at 2:00 (walking the course btw) and could not wait for those evening thunderstorms! I hate humidity.

The weather felt warm yesterday. I could have sworn it was in the upper 40's, but after about a half hour of riding I couldnt wait for it to be over. Guess i judged that wrong...

But really awesome, what other fruits and such you grow of your own? Here in Salt Lake we had this nectarine tree growing up.. It was way nice.. Until Lightning struck it.... Never seen another nectarine tree out here since?

Steven, personally hate winter. Here is a look at my backyard at the very beginning of December:



I can expect atleast 2 or 3 times that much snow by mid february; unless there is a melt off.

I make sure to look at and shine a different part of my bike almost every day. It is parked in my basement and getting a lot of work done over the winter.

On a side note, how do you like those Pirellis? I have sport demon 140/70 and 110/70 's on my CBR250RR. They seem pretty good but not as nice as the Bridgestone BT92 radials that it came with. Better then Arrowmax (also known as Arrowstacks in Aus) or BT45's for sure though.


Also, just thought I would throw this out there: Don't get a 600 yet. I had a few 600's now and I've sold them all in favor of a Ninja 250R and a CBR250RR. I have just as much fun on the 250's as I did on the 600's. Some people will talk down on them but that is just their own insecurities. Your out there riding. Save the money and enjoy what you have.

sorry... they don't travel well... by the time they would reach there from Hawaii (and I'm not airmailing lemons to you!), they would be moldy. Honest, they don't last very long after picking and for some reason mold is a real problem with these lemons.

Ditto, Summer is terrible for riding here. Too hot, especially in the traffic, with torrential rains every afternoon. I'd rather bundle up on a chilly 65 degree winter day than risk heat stroke riding to work in July.

I rode my 250 for 3 miles after work today.

Temp was 24 degrees with wind chill of 11 degrees, wind was 16 mph gusting to 26 mph!!!
