Footpeg inquiry

Background: A little over two weeks ago, I took my ninjette to the track (Shanandoah Circuit @ Summit Point, WV) for the first time. Had a BLAST. Unfortunately, first lap of the last session of the day, I lowsided (I *think* I scraped the kickstand mount, but honestly not sure) and the bike wound up doing some tumbling when the fixed footpeg on my clutch-side rearset (along with the frame slider I should've removed for the trackday) grabbed turf. Wound up with a slightly tweaked footpeg mount on the frame, which I've since straightened with some controlled application of force.

My question is: Is it better to have folding pegs, probably for this specific reason? Or are rigid pegs a better choice and I just got the butt end of the deal?

Video of that last session. I know some of my lines need work; not my best run of the day by far. Event happens @ 2:12. Taken on my Contour ROAM attached to the front cowl

Link to original page on YouTube.

Other pointers/suggestions/mild harassment welcome. But in the end, I'm glad to have been unhurt (THANK YOU GEAR), fix the bike without overmuch trouble and have the opportunity to learn from my mistake.

folding pegs are also good for preventing your foot from getting stuck, or if you put a foot out and it catches so you dont rip a hole in the back of your ankle

also... that crash looked like cold tires.

Mmm, good additional point on the folding pegs.

Very well might've been cold tires; you'd know better than I. Hadn't leaned that far out anywhere else that lap, so the edges may have been relatively cold. Hadn't had any traction issues other than the first session, where the track was still a bit wet. It doesn't show in the stabilized youtube vid, but on the original there's definitely a 'jolt' a split second before the slide gets going (which I remember). That and the chunk that was ground off from my kickstand sensor were the main reason I thought I'd scraped that, but that may've happened during the slide itself and the bump may've been the tire losing grip and something else hitting. Wish I knew more. Need learning.

My rear was a Pirelli sport demon 140. Not an ideal track tire, but seemed to be doing well otherwise

It kinda looks like you tucked the front, easy to do with cold tires.

Folding footpegs won't help if that kickstand mount touches. Cut it off!

This. I still have my kickstand but it's ground down from all the times I've been to the track. The video looks like you tucked the front though.
