Bike starts better cold than on a hot day?

My 2009 250 is having a rough time starting. Not early in the day however... It has the most issues in hot weather, or after it has already been warmed up on a short ride. I'll start it up with or without choke and it'll struggle. I'll also hear a strange clicking noise coming from the front. It almost sounds like an electrical click... I've included a link to a video.

When I start the bike in the morning (usually without the choke), it'll start right up without the clicking noise. I've replaced the air filter, charged and tested the battery, cleaned and adjusted the chain, and ran some seafoam through the gas... Nothing seems to fix it. I've searched online plenty and found nothing.

Any ideas?

Link to original page on YouTube.

I forgot to mention... I'll often have to give the throttle has to help start it... But not when the bike is cold...

The clicking noise is your cam chain slapping around, also known as the Kawi-tick. My 250R ticked a hell of a whole lot until I installed a manual CCT on it. You could also remove and reset the stock CCT but the tick may eventually come back.

Have you made any carb adjustments?

Stock air filter?

What does it idle at when hot?

I thought if it was the CCT it would be constant. The bike quiets down after a few seconds... but I'm more worried about the trouble starting than the noise... just thought they might have been related.

And to answer the other questions, I'm using the stock air filter and it idles at about 1300-1400 RPM after warm. I have not done anything to the carbs.

No idea. The guy said he had regular maintenance and I took his word for it since the bike was in great condition... But I wouldn't be surprised if he skipped the 500 mile service like most owners.

500??
Ohh I just took another look at your video and you're not even at 7000. Valve clearance check is at 7500 so you could be due early?
