What do YOU feel are the strong points

This is between the latest generation 250 and the previous body style (generic grouping here)?

I have not been on both, so I was just curious what you would keep and what you would go back to on the latest generation?

Even though I haven't been on the 08+, I love the 17" wheels. I wish mine had that.

I must say, I also really like the single sided exhaust.

So 08+ bike owners, what did you like about the older bikes that you'd like on your bike? What would you keep the same?

Pre-gen owners, what would you want from the new bike and what would you keep the same?

I rode a 99 for years then when the 2008's came out I switched.

I miss the 16 inch front tire ! squirrley fun! It's had incredible response time.

The seat height on the 99 was such that I did not have to lower it like I did the 08.
I did not have the hassles that come with lowering.
On the other hand, I sure like the 08 looks and the powerband.

Temp gauge! The gas gauge isn't that useful, although mine is very accurate and consistent.

Me too, although id like to have both. I don't see why it would be so hard for Kawasaki to have both on the bike.

I would agree with the Temp Gage. I like the seat arrangement better on the older Ninja--there are grab rails and it looks easier to put saddle bags on the bike if you wanted to tour with it. The tail light looks like it was thought out a bit better. I, quite honestly like the older Ninjas a lot. The ZZR available in Canada, is drop dead beautiful in either green or yellow. I would, however do a 2 into 1 exhaust.

I don't have any experience riding the old gen but the only reason I picked the new gen is because it looks more like a super sport than the older gen does. Actually, if Honda still made the CBR250RR, I'd buy one of those instead.

My buddy has a 2005 that I've been on a couple of times, I liked the tach being front and center on the gauge cluster. It also seemed to feel a bit more flickable than the new gens. The seat was a little more comfortable too if I recall right, but its a one piece seat so it doesn't look as good.

I started on an '05 before getting my current '09, and if there's one thing that I missed when moving to the current gen it was the center stand. Not a big deal now that I have a rear stand for my current gen, but It certainly made checking my oil and lubing my chain a bit more convenient. Otherwise, I prefer the more narrow seat and the look and feel of the current gen.

I've ridden both, and have a pregen. I think I'm the only one that likes the dual exhaust better. IMO, the performance difference isn't great enough for me to justify the looks difference, and I'm a stickler for symmetry. I prefer undertail, then dual exhausts over one sided ones. The pregen is a bit more flickable, but the overall geometry of the newgen is better. It felt much more natural while cornering to me. Also, I noticed that the throttle of the newgen is much more smooth. That may have something to do with my bike specifically, but who knows?

The thin post and diamond shape of the new gen mirrors would look super good on the pregen.
