Vibration

Does the 08+ ninjette normally have obvious engine vibration, the worst being between 4 and 6k RPMS?

As i was riding my new bike home for the first time today it seemed rather vibey. Not frighteningly so, but enough to make me wonder. It's been so long since I rode a ninjette that I really can't remember how much vibration there was. And of course my nighthawk was smooth as silk, so i can't really use that as a comparison.

Have after market bar ends ? Really need the stock heavy or as heavy bar ends on there to help keep the bar vibrations at bay. Regardless the ninja 250 is really smooth. Possible something else going on. What are the details/ history of the ninjette ?

It's completely stock except for the LED lights and flushmount turn signals. It doesn't feel like the bars are vibrating. More like the whole bike.

The bike is used, 3000 miles on it. Just picked it up from the dealership. Other than that, I know nothing about it's history.

Your wheels may be out if balance. Or perhaps the rear wheel is out if alignment. These problems usually cause vibration at certain speeds.

Between 4-6k rpms sounds like the engine mount bolts. I have vibrations at 8-9k rpms but all the bolts are tight so I think it might just be natural resonance. Are the vibrations felt through the bars, pegs, or seat?

Great ideas above but having just picked it up from the dealer take it back to them for review/inspection. That should put your mind at ease and confirm your safety.

I'll have to check that. The vibrations seem to be in the pegs and body work more than anywhere else.

I was talking to my brother about it and he said that his ninja 250's both had noticeable vibration. He said not to worry about it, but I'm probably gonna check the mounting bolts just to be sure.

Thanks, Mike.

In that case, the bike should be gone over by you completely to make sure it's in tip top shape before even riding it, unless it came with a guaranty from the dealer. If it did, take it back to them and let them deal with anything you have concerns with on your purchase.
