Thinking about painting my bike

So I have a black pregen that was wrecked lightly a while back, but still has some road damage.

Breaking it down, I look at my options like this:

take my losses and sell it as is.
fix it up a little and have some fun.
have fun as is. (what I've been doing)

Now I'm looking at it like this:

remove all of the fairings
sand and prime
alpine white spray the whole thing
wetsand and clear
spray the removable metal bits goldflake - clear coat as well
light yellow GT tint on the headlight
take the mirrors off, fill the holes, cover with some custom plastic, and paint over as well.
handlebar mirrors.

I figure this should all take no more than 2-3 months of weekends, and shouldn't be impossible. THoughts?

I wouldn't give up 2-3 months, which means longer, to do anything. You could do a couple of small change-outs or touching up, but that's all I did. I got Rat photos on my profile page.

If you're not looking for a showroom finish, it's very possible.

I was in a similar situation. PO had dropped it a couple times - I was rocking it with the scratches and cracks and didn't think much of it.

However, last winter I got bored, so I decided to try to clean it up a bit. I piddled with it on the weekends - I spring was my deadline, so I was in no rush. When the weather permitted, I rode her naked.

Came out fine for me.
