A Very Jiggly 250

The time has come to mod the balls off my 250. First up I'm going to crank every last pony I can out of the stock carbs and engine. My Area P 18" Full race exhaust arrived today and I received my k&n air filter earlier this week. I'm thinking maybe I'll go do a dyno run to see what the 250 is producing right now and then maybe get it dyno tuned or just do a dyno run afterwards to see where its at.

Here's the sexy bitch

I'm expecting results similar to this

I think I may do a video DIY of everything I do this weekend, or maybe its more trouble than its worth

**** thats happened

Lookin good! Did my post make you buy one? The timing is a strange coincidence :P

Also, I threw up another video the other day of just normal riding with the exhaust to get the idea of what it is like for daily riding. Though mine is the 12" can which would make it a tad bit louder.

Area P is a sweet exhaust, you'll pay for it... But it'll give you a power boost. But then again, what is a few hp when you aren't racing

A tad bit louder is an understatement

No I had a area p on my last 250, it was the street version 18" I'm planning on taking this bike to the track so I got the race version which replaces the passenger pegs and produces a bit more hp

Area P is the highest quality exhaust you can buy for the 250. It produces the best tones and the most hp and it also looks fantastic. You can find full systems for $100-$150 cheaper but they will not be the same quality. The owner of the company is a member on this site @kbryant, if you pm him I'm sure he can elaborate more on why his product is superior

Whatever you do, do not get a slip on, utter waste of money

You know how people complain that they can't pass cars on the freeway? It's because they don't have an area P on their bike

Of course, as this is the obvious conclusion!

Just curious, do you ride your 1000 at all?

I try to but then I just go out and stare at it and gently touch it

But really when I got onto a stock 250 again I was like "Ok, I see now why people think this bike is not good for passing" The extra 5 hp you get out of an area P really makes a difference at highway speeds

Relative to the power of a stock 250r a 5 hp gain is massive. Plus, I think most of the exhausts for the 250r make it sound bad. However, the Area P exhaust is an exception! I've never heard it in person, but from the videos it makes it sound like a miniature STI/Subaru in general

The sound is fantastic. It's a bit louder than stock but far from annoying

Here's the sound differential

Thanks for the tip. I don't take short cuts. I spend the money once and do it right. So with that said, last I heard , the full yoshi was where it's at. Thats in my '10. Id consider trying this areaP one too

Oh I see, you're looking for a system for the 09? It will be a cool to be able to compare a bike with a full yoshi to a bike with a full area p. Drag test them and see who wins (my money is on the 09 )

Also there is 2 full area p systems available. The race system produces a bit more power than the street system (not sure but I think it has bigger headers???). If you can do without the passenger pegs on the 09 go for the race system, that will easily beat the yoshi

This is the same mantra that I follow, too.

Looks like I'll be installing my Area P this weekend, hopefully I can feel the difference when I do my pulls through redline after finding the right jetting.

Do you have a JIS screw driver or allen head replacement screws for the carbs?

The Factory Pro kit comes with 8 allen bolts for the carb tops and I sourced the 8 allen bolts for the float bowls from Home Depot.

I almost typed "bowels" for a moment there...

Pod filters race exhaust and jetting. I'm going to try and get my bike dyno'd today and then get it dyno'd after I install everything to see what gain this gets me (or better yet, if my jetting is any good )

No, he doesn't.

Would he?

It is just a link to the "ignore him" button (the guy is brilliant + bored = deadly combination).

Cool thread to follow and see results from
Ok here is what I meant, it's really difficult to do unsafe passes with the current setup. I dont even consider doing a double yellow pass on it because it just won't do it fast enough. I don't have any trouble on the freeway though
