MotoGP Jerez 2010 Friday practice results—Stoner immediately quick

Jerez MotoGP Friday practice results show Ducati's Casey Stoner once again quick from the start as he led the timesheetsAfter an unexpected three-week break in the MotoGP schedule due to the postponement of the Japanese GP at Motegi caused by the airline disruption from the Iceland volcano, the MotoGP calendar has resumed at the Jerez circuit in Spain this weekend. Ducati Marlboro’s Casey Stoner is looking to recover from his opening race mistake at Qatar where he crashed out of the lead by dominating the first practice of the weekend. Stoner was the first to dip into the 1:39 bracket, and his time stood for the rest of the session, with Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo the only other rider to get into the 39s and threaten Stoner, the Ducati rider crashing out of the session unhurt with two minutes remaining. Stoner’s teammate Nicky Hayden continued his resurgent form after a fourth place in the opening race at Qatar by ending up third on the timesheets, with local boy Dani Pedrosa coming in fourth. Speaking of hurting, one rider who was glad that the Motegi GP was postponed was Valentino Rossi, injured in a motocross training crash just after the Qatar race and suffering a dislocated shoulder. Rossi finished the session in fifth place, but he was still cautious about how much pain he would be experiencing from riding.
