I woudn't put tire shine on my motorcycle tires period. I don't want to be in a lean and have the tire slide right out from under me because of the tire shine.

Tire shine looks great, a low sided bike has its own charm too I guess?

I remember a few years ago one of the big magazines (Cycleworld or Motorcyclist I think) was doing a photoshoot for a new, just released bike that they'd gotten to review.
They did a bunch of photographs, and then the rider went to take a pee break. During that time, the photographer decided to shine up the bike for some more photos. He didn't actually mention this to the rider/reporter. He then took some great photographs of the rider first sliding off the shiny seat, and then the bike lowsiding directly into the direction of the photographer. What was supposed to be a good review of a new motorcycle ended up being published as a very negative review on the use of Armor-All on seats and tires.

Don't judge me peeps...we all pooped in our dipies at some point...this was back when I thought the more the shinier the better. Ahhh...the good old days of blissful ignorance |

I don't put anything on the tread section, but I do put tire-shine gel on the sidewalls.
As for Armor-All making the seat slick....my experience has been just the opposite. When I listed my '07 for sale, I gave it a complete detail, right down to applying Extreme Shine Armor-All to the seat. I didn't intend to ride it, but when I got a call to show the bike to someone the next day, I hopped on without even thinking about it and rode away. My jeans stuck to that seat like it had rubber cement on it. The Armor-All got tacky sitting in a 90-degree garage for 24 hours, and I literally couldn't even scoot on the seat. There may be some combinations of fabrics and treatments that are bad news, but a pre-gen seat with Armor-All is like velcroing yourself to the bike. |
