Exclamation Inside 2012 FI Ninja 250r (EU Spec)

I have taken my side fairings off for repair and I thought i'd snap a few pics for anybody with European (or other) FI Ninjas incase they may be useful, or if anybody with other versions may be interested on seeing the engine of the FI version.

If anybody would like more (or rather better) photos of anything in specific the fairings will be off for another week or so for repair so please do ask.

Cheers

Wow! That bike is filthy. Hopefully you will have that spotless before you put the fairing back on.

I clean the engine with a pressure washer weekly but after only a few hours riding through the farms where I live it gets like that, all I can do is spray it with ACF50 and that acts as a nice barrier and anti corrosion agent, although it attracts the dust, it prevents corrosion.

the rubber engine cover is interesting.

i wonder if they installed that to prevent the tank vacuum issues.

why would the cover help vacuum issues? mean from the heat?

And yes the cover caught my eye as well right off the bat.

Some people were having a hard time starting the bike when the tank got hot then cooled off. Riders would then open the fuel cap to see if they ran out of gas. Then it started great. But those were mainly carbs issues though, with fuel injection tank vacuum shouldn't have been an issue.

I do get a vacuum in the tank but that usually manifests itself with a sound like a groaning or moaning that comes from a valve near the top I believe, but the forced injection will overcome the vacuum.

When I wash her and the warm water warms the tank it sounds just like when Peter Griffin in Family Guy does the "If you shave a mans back Meg he'll purr like a walruss" that purr exactly, so I like to think my bike purrs like a walrus when I wash it.

lol, thats pretty much what my tank sounds like.
have had some slow starts with carbs but after installing the EFI kit i have had no problems.

might get one of those covers if they ever show on ebay. i'm trying to install as much OEM hardware on my bike as possible.

Here's a better one of the rubber / throttle body, i'll see if there is a part number on the rubber bit.
