Few Noob Questions
Hello all
I first purchased my Ninja about 3 months ago and have been riding almost daily and am enjoying it very much. I have noticed however a few things that have stood out on the Ninja when riding it. This is my first bike so im not sure if this is entirely normal or not. Also something to note is that my bike came with an aftermarket exhaust so im not sure if it was correctly installed and whatnot. 1. Stuttering idle: My bike idles around 1400-1500 rpm normally without using the choke at all since it is hot where I live. I have read that this is the normal range for the bike. However when I am at stoplights the bike just sounds like it is struggling and wants to cut off. It sounds like it is fighting to stay at 1500 rpm. Now maybe I am looking into this too much and shouldnt be worried since it hasnt cut off yet and is still around the correct idle range. 2. Loss of Power?: Usually when I am riding between 40-60 mph I keep the rpms around 7000-8000. Sometimes though the sound of the exhaust is annoyingly loud so I shift upwards to drop the rpms and not be so loud. What I have noticed though is that if I am in 5th or 6th gear going about 45-50mph that I will lose almost all power at the throttle. The bike will slowly start decelerating and I can go full throttle and the bike wont accelerate at all but just maintain the speed. The only way I can get power back to the throttle is when I downshift back to a lower gear. Are our bikes designed this way or is it something wrong with my bike?? All help will be appreciated thanks |

2. Your in too high of a gear at the current speed you're at. downshift...... It's just like shifting a car into 3rd at 10 mph... you won't have enough power to get up to speed.
