Fuel Attacking Paint Around Petcock
In the middle of various tune-up and modification tasks getting my 2008 ready for trackdays this summer. (Thanks to NinjaBraap for the carb rebuild.) The petcock under the tank was leaking so bought a new one to replace it. After taking the old petcock off discovered the paint underneath was soft and peeling. It appeared to have been chemically softened. 99% sure the tank has not been repainted so the factory paint should have stood-up to the gas. I've never used any kind of fuel additives myself but the bike was bought used so can't vouch for its past. I'm guessing gas here in Oregon is pretty typical with much of it being 10% gasohol. Anyone else experience gas attacking the paint?
