Bridgestone Battlax BT-003 OR Pirelli Diablo Rosso II???

Hey guys,

Great Forum. New Here and wanted to get some opinions. Ive been doing TONS of research on tires and this weekend I will be upgrading the Stock IRC's to a 140/70 rear and I cant decide between the BT-003 or the Pirellis. Ive read so much about both tires and so much on sizes which lead me to go with the 140/70 over the 150/60 but now that I have the size down, which tire??

Both are the same price and Im sure both are great tires but which ones will be best for every day city driving in Southern California. No track days for this guy.

Thanks in advance for your help!

those are both pretty sticky tires for the street. they will wear out very quickly and on the street the extra grip is kinda almost useless since you arent doing the kind of lean angles you would on the track.

Yeah Ive heard the tread life isnt great on either tire but at a hundred bux or so a tire I can afford to swap em every 3k miles. Unless theres another 140/70 sport tire option with better tread life?? but all my research has led me to these two... Im hoping that with experience I can get good enough to take her to the track

BT-45s has the longest tread life I know. Seeing how you said those tires are cheap, why don't you just go ahead and buy a set of one ride it, see how you like it, and try on the other set.

I got at most 7k out of my BT-16s now to the wires (not safe, I know). Now I have the S-20s so imagine the mileage to be the same as it's predecessor.

I have Pilot POWERS 110/150 bu I also ride tons of canyons. M
I gave the pilot powers a long good look and everyone who has them seems to rave but ive heard you sacrafice a little too much agility and contact patch so thats why I think the 140's might be best.

they dont make a 140 in the bt-16s and the 150 is 161MM Wide as opposed to 151MM of the pilot powers

I chose Bridgestones because it was cheaper and they've been proven by other members here. I hit the occasional track and they have held up well for me. I'll give Michelin's a try if they ever get on sale when I ever need new tires.

for the street i wouldnt bother with more than something like a bt45 or bt16. get a tire that is designed to do what you want to do with it. a racing tire has rubber designed for a completely different temperature zone.

Diablo Rosso II are pretty good I've got about 2,500 miles on them, probably another 4000-6000 left to go (depending how I ride on them). This is with commuting, track days and canyon rides. They are very sticky and work really, really good on the track. I'd get 003s if you are going to be on the track most of the time.

Well I decided on the Diablo Rosso II's based on extensive research however its just my luck that no one in the country has them in the 140/70 rear and they are on back order untill July or possibly august so I went with the BT-003 .. Ill be sure to let you guys know how they ride.

I also run the s20-r tires. 110/70/17 front and 150/60/17 r https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-Wb...e_gdata_player

Run smoother than stock and grips awesome around corners but will have chicken strips. J love them though.
