Another Solo Seat Cowl Question

Bought what looks to be an aftermarket set from ebay. However, the "grommet studs" as i'll call them won't go into the bracket.

Lets refer to the diagram below:

http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oe...3e4799f9d/seat

The 92161B fits perfectly fine no problem. The 92161C however, just won't go in. The stud portion that came with this kit is just too big. I even lubed up the area and could not get it in.

I'm trying to go the frugal route. Where can I get this piece for cheap? Most of the links that came up that I've searched for are for the middle piece of the grommet and not these stud grommets. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Okay I'm not too familiar with the New-Gens, so I'm a little in the dark, if you could provide some detailed pics, that would be a great help.

But if I understand you correctly, part #92161C is not fitting into part#11054 ? So the diameter of 92161C is more than the hole on 11054, which is smaller diameter?

What are the 92161C, and 11054 made of?

Sorry I should've been more specific. This is the 08-12 model 250. Here are two images for references:

Simple fix, either trim/sand etc... down the grommet stud, or open the the diameter of the hole in the bracket, a small rat-tail file will do, just remember to take it slow, and check the fit often, you can always increase the size of the hole, you can't decrease it.

Personally I'd modify the grommet stud, it looks plastic, and a little sanding will go quickly, and use a hairdryer to help soften it up too

I had an oem, I did not have any issues with mine. Hopefully someone with a New gen will chime in soon.

Mine were already installed when I got them. I think Ghost has the right idea, a very careful gentle sanding just to file off the peg part under you can mash it in there.

Are you trying to force it straight down into the hole? If so, try putting it on at a slight angle and twist as you push, essentially "screwing" it into the hole.

Hey guys thanks for the advice. I have a sand filer + sandpaper at home and tried it. Sandpaper and rubber does not work well at all. I ended up just using a xacto knife and slicing some rubber off. I ended up twisting too hard on one of the rubber pieces and sliced it on the metal as if i were using an apple peeler.

So the way I finally got to fix it was even with the xacto knife, it wasn't enough. I didn't want to slice the base area and I didn't wanna slice too much. Instead, I use filer I had which was about the side of a large flathead screwdriver, held the rubber piece on the edge of the metal and stabbed the stud in. It took an extremely long time (probably half an hour per piece) and a lot of hand cramps before I was able to get it in. I ended up having to super glue the apple peel piece back but it seems that the stud won't come out.

This is is lesson for next time I guess. No need to go aftermarket or else I end up with problems like this... This is what I guess I get for being frugal. I'm still missing 2 screws (130A on the diagram), two nuts (92015 on the diagram), and maybe a grommet that I'll pick up at Lowes. What a big headache all for the cowl haha.

The cheapest place I've found for parts is Partszilla. But be warned, a few members have reported problems with them. Personally, my one or two orders have been fine.

If you are talking the grommet that goes on the rear bracket, the dimensions are: 1/2"ID x 31/32"OD
