Here's what they do. You can determine if it's worth it for you.

Not if you didn't check every single bolt on the bike. (Not to mention the controls inspections etc)
You didn't do a proper 600mi service.

What the 600 mile service is, is to make sure everything seated properly and nothing is falling out. Also to catch all the crap the dumby mechanic in the shop did wrong. lol
Motorcycles cause micro-vibrations that help themselves remove their own bolts.

I'd like to refer to this as the "Break-in Service". The service you do just after you complete break in.. to make sure it's still safe to ride.

Check every single bolt on the bike for proper torque.

You guys who fail to do this stuff are the guys I see bolts falling out of your bikes when I work on them. You should know what you are doing before you just change the oil and forget the rest. That is a fatal practice. Setting yourself up for a crash with an unknown cause.

Go down to harbor freight and get a cheap torque wrench and socket set and get a manual and tighten all the bolts to the torque the manual recommends. The manual has a huge three page section of what bolts get how much torque. Remove the plastics and get every single bolt on the motorcycle. Then check the controls have properly play and adjustments and all the controls screws and bolts are tight.

Inspect your tires for damage and wear, then air and your blinkers and headlights also.
Top off the coolant in the radiator and reservoir.
Take note of chain slack and compare to tolerances.

$10 says your local mechanic won't even honestly check over all this stuff because he doesn't read the exact manual for your bike to do so. Even if he did, he wouldn't do it all anyways because he's on the clock and just wants to go home. What you could really benefit from is a NINJA 250 mechanic who takes pride in their work because they own a ninja too and go on their reputation.

IMO bike work is a top priority and very serious thing.

We'll obviously yeah you should go over the bike and make sure all the basics are OK. Before I hit 600 my bike was apart twice for rejet so I already went over all the main stuff myself on re assembling the bike.
