Getting a motorcycle jacket tailored? Jackets for smaller guys?
First of all, I am 5' 6" (5'7" on a good day, heh) and around 120-125lbs. I've been searching for jackets that would fit my frame but unfortunately I have had no luck. I tried on a Dainese jacket in size us36/eu46 and I felt it was still too big ;~; I know I could bulk up but that would take some time.
I love how Alpinestars jackets look like though, for example this one: http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product...ket/web1000311 They do offer a jacket in size us36 but I think it's a little out of my price range especially since it probably won't fit me snuggly. http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product...ket/web1000508 Am I better off bulking up to fit the jacket? The smallest size they offer is a size 38. I was wondering if anyone else has this same jacket in this size and if so, I would greatly appreciate if they would share some stats like weight, height, build. Or should I get the first jacket in size us38 and get it tailored? Anyone have any suggestions to a good tailor in SoCal? Or finally, should I just quit my searching and try to look at other brands like Icon or Joe Rocket and others? |

European manufacturers will do smaller sizes, Dainese is very good, but very expensive. Richa do very good value gear, not quite as good as Dainese but a lot cheaper.
Another option would be custom made gear, don't know where you are but Scott (uk manufacturer) do excellent leathers & custom fit options for jackets, trousers & 1 piece suits. I'm 5'7 175 or so, I wear a medium Richa Ballistic jacket with Richa Viper trousers. A spine protector that straps to your back will bulk you up a bit, as will a chest protector I wear a Knox Aegis but don't bother with chest armour |

I'm about your size, I'm actually a 34s suit so that's about an extra small in most companies be careful though I have seen some companies say their extra smalls are a 38.
I just ordered an alpinestar jacket in extra small from amazon, waiting on that to come in, tourmaster also makes extra small, I have seen some extra smalls on cyclegear.com as well I forgot what brands, but they have a shop not far from one of my clients, so I'll stop in next week and fill you in on the fit |

I had both my track leathers and Dianese leather jacket tailored - just look for a local place know to tailor leather.

I was charged $80 bucks to take in the wrist and ankles of the suit and $125 taper the body of the jacket. I was really hesitant to hand over the Dainese jacket, but after the nice job on the suit, I decided to go for it. I was not a big fan of the "cinched waist" look of the jacket after pulling in the side adjuster around the waist.

These places all make custom sizes, you can check with them on suit and jacket prices.

I too am a smaller rider.. 5'4" 120lbs.. I currently use Scropions Torque jacket. Fits pretty snug and is quite warm with the liner. The only problem I have ever had is the pockets, theres on 3.. but other than that I comes with a back, shoulder, elbow protector for only $130. It also looks badass..
