Found a New Ride..

My activity Level on this forums dropped instantly once the snow began to fly around here. While cruising around online one day I came across a website for a Kawasaki dealer 30 minutes down the road. I knew they didn't really deal with street bikes because I wanted to buy my 250r there but they didn't have one, nor were they planning on getting any. Anyway, I decided to call them and see what they currently had in stock for bikes. The guy at the other end tell me they just recieved a Ninja 650r ABS model. He quotes me an amazing price on the bike. With my 250 as trade in it was still less then buying a new 250. I couldn't refuse such a great deal and I now own a new green 2013 Ninja 650 ABS.

Now to wait until all the snow and ice goes away....

Planning on it, just looked into improving all my gear getting real riding pants with armor and full gauntlet gloves not just wrist length.

Well taking pictures out in the sun would be pretty difficult right now we don't get much sunlight. Not to mention I can't even roll it outside. We have about 5 feet of snow.

Tinted the front windscreen at my work the other day it came out pretty clean looking. I also have some Kawasaki green rim stripes on the way! Came to a realization though, am I the only one who likes the fenders on the back?

I'm getting nervous for the season to start. I am excited to see the difference between the 250 and this bike.

**edit**
Does anyone notice the levers as much as I do?

Yep, the lever's kinda stand out being aluminum or somewhat shiny. Black ones might look better. But as long as they work that's what counts. As for the rear fender, I also definitely prefer the original unmodified rear fender, but I see quite a few of the sport bikes with it removed. I guess they don't ride in the rain, or other inclement weather.

I wonder how hard they would be to pull off and paint with a dust black color. Can anyone give insight on how easy it is to pull off levers?

I like the levers in silver. If you want them black, I would suggest powdercoating over paint because it will better resist chips and scratches.

I don't know if i can do either, Looking at the levers they have adjusters on them. Paint or powdercoat might jam them up?

You would have to mask the area before painting or powdercoating.

As for adjustable levers, I have CRG clutch levers on my 250 and 636. I didn't bother replacing the brake lever.

Many people choose the cheap Chinese levers but be prepared for fading and long ship time.

CRG doesn't have 650 levers for whatever reason. Those chinese levers have mixed reviews. On a different forum some guy on a gixxer said they caused his brake to lock up.

I might just ghettoize them and throw some hockey tape on there. On the plus side it would give me better grip?

You could also try some heat shrink tubing, as I've heard of guys doing that mainly for the winter time though, so their fingers aren't touching the cold metal levers.

Looks good man. Definitely hope you get to ride it soon. It's just recently started to warm up here but I'm a lot further south than you, lol.

As far as the rear fender, I've never really like it myself but both my bikes have already had them removed before they got to me so I never really had the option anyways. I've ridden in pretty wet weather without it and didn't really have any issues. If I'm riding in the rain, I'm usually wearing wet weather gear anyways, along with getting wet from what's falling from the sky. A little tire water won't hurt.

It's supposed to be cold tonight, -27C (-17F) so I will be waiting still. I should throw up a picture here of where I used to park the Ninja.

Summer time!

Right now...

Congrats on the 650! Nice choice. I see you kept with the green on the new one, I was going to go green again too but fell in love with red for my second Kawi.

We do have too much snow and cold weather up hear, oh well in another month or so we will have tons of time to ride.

It stems from when I was younger and their was a guy who rode a green Ninja through town. I always wanted a Ninja in green. The guy ended up getting arrested on a DUI. DWI for Americans I think.

Lows of -29C this morning. -17F.

I am the same way (or was). To me Kawi = Team Green which is why I made sure my 250 was green. But when I saw the red ZX6R I knew it was for me.

Once the dust settles and my lead on a new job comes through, I will be looking for a zx6r project bike.

It's melting, Its melting!

We had a bobcat come and scrape the ice away so we could drive into the back, and this was the leftovers on the side.

I wonder how long that bobcat would take to do it.

So I finally got to ride the 650. I couldn't believe the difference in power, just seemed to always be ready and wanting more and very low rpms for city speed limits. I only got to Ride down my street and back a couple times, to much sand on the main roads still. I loved it, can't wait to see what this thing can do.

Weight/handling wise I didn't notice much of a difference, could just be my overall physical differences since last riding season.

^^ That's what I found when I test rode a 650. It felt pretty much identical to the 250, only more torque everywhere and it was physically bigger.

Put some clip-ons and rearsets on that bad boy and I wouldn't even realize it wasn't my 250.
