Bridgestone S20 Evo- Opinions, if any?
Short and simple.
Has anyone tried the Bridgestone S20 Evo tires on the track? I got a stellar deal and want to give them a shot but have found minimal information on the interwebs. |

So far i've only run the Bt003RS but I got this set of Evos for less than $150.
I'll probably pick up a set of the pirelli's at some point next year. |

I don't use them on the track - (I mean why would I if I have some race tire to burn through lol) but they are on my street bike and I have ZERO complaints about them.

I can try to write up a trackday/racer perspective review of the time in a couple weeks. Going to push them to the limits August 30th.

Have a lap timer and some comparison times? Would be curious to see how much difference there is between options.

Stupid tropical storm ruined my weekend... no way to review these tires now. The TD has been canceled and I am not sure if I can make the make up day.

You wont go wrong with the S20. You cant go wrong with that tire or the Q3. They are comparable.

I just ran the S20 EVO's at Pocono's F USA configuration. This was my first time on the "new to me" 2013 Ninja 300 so it's not easy for me to give a true comparison. I do run Q3's on my Yamaha FZ-09.
I ran the 110 / 150 sizes and allowed for a warm up lap with cold pressure set to about 29/29. I felt these tires offered superb grip, certainly more then grip then I was asking of them. I barely got into the soft compound outside section of the tread, with a thumbs width of strip still left untouched. I'll post some updates as I hit the track again later this month. |

Three attempts in a row have been thwarted.
This weekend due to sickness. Damn I want to try these tires. |

Feel better Foxrider.
I have since taken the bike to the track two more times at New York Safety Track (no street riding yet). This track has 450' of elevation changes and 18 turns. The asphalt was colder in the mornings with ambient temps starting in the upper 40's and low 50's. I refrained from pushing too hard as people pushing harder were flying off the track. After each morning session the tire felt on the cool side to me (100 degrees tops?) Afternoons had sun and temps around 70. Tires felt tacky on the edges and noticeably more sticky after a few laps and were closer to 110-120 after sessions. Hot temps were about 29.5 F 29 R. My pace is almost at intermediate level. Not once did I feel the tires lose grip. Still about 1/4" of strip left for more lean. I would like to try a few more PSI to see how the feel changes, not to mention on a hotter day 85+. Very happy so far wit these S20r's. |

Bridgestone 140/70HR17 S20R-EVO Tbl Hypersport Radial Type 003262, Part # 8001609, 4848grams 110/70HR17 S20F-EVO Tbl Hypersport Radial Type 003261, Part# 8001608, 3703grams These things are featherweight, sidewalls feel as thick as a condom. For the price of the rears ($50 more than DR2 in Au, $240, fronts are the same $160) Front looked like vey tough to fit, but they balanced with just 5 grams. Set them at Pirelli pressures of 27R/31F on the warmers, Went out and did 10 laps x 2.4km, no scrubbing in, straight into it. They could stick to the roof. Rubber so nice you could eat it 10 laps on the front, Pressure too high but felt more precise than the chunky wet weather DR2's. 60 laps, kept dropping pressures ended up a low 26R/27F nice even wear. 60 laps on the front, Still got the hairs in the middle, Hard to get my head around having to be 4psi less than DR2 but proof is they worked on a cool 19-21C degree day ended up liking them more than the rears. Rain spots in the final session so cut it short and quit while ahead. Love them, cant wait for the next 60 laps (6 sessions) next time. Will have to look after the rears (price), DR2's last up to 9 days, might get that out of these if looked after properly with temps and pressures. ^^ you ended up 27F/26R hot off warmers? So overall feeling after a day on them vs DRII f/r was?

they were coming off the track close to those pressures too when I went ballistic on them start to finish and straight back to pits. In a nutshell, fit the front immediately. and report back here. More precise, perfection, just like an SC1 or BT003 grip on a dry day, but better feel. I wont make any more calls on the rears yet as its only one day, and didn't stay out when the rain spots started, another lap might have been my last at the high pace (within 0.4 of my PB) 100+ grams lighter both ends, that alone is half a hp. DR2 rears are faultless, hope these are as good. |

What temperature do you have your warmers set to ? Not sure if they are single or dual temp.

The harder you ride a tyre (and evenly) generally the better they are. 250's struggle to maintain heat. Quote:
As for pressures, you'll work your own. Speeds, tracks, riders and bikes all vary. Yamaha calls for 36R/30F, Kawasaki and Honda run 30R/30F and 30R/29F for example. Tyres are personal preference. Last futzed with by Aufitt; November 13th, 2015 at 08:31 AM. |

I'm disappointed that the H rated EVOs are single compound, where the higher rated are multi-compound. Is the front a soft tire? I'm comparing to the SC1.
For the price, they sound great. If the front is close to the SC1, I think a switch is in-store. My only hesitance is tire feel and edge grip. |
