Hi,
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053 Would this be good to use as a cleaner for the chain? or do i need to use a different type of Kerosene? Im not gonna waste money on those "spray can Foamy chain cleaners", they cost like $13 p/can! And dont do a good job cleaning the chain really! |

I picked up the quart bottle from Walmart in the camping section. I think it was like $6, and should last for a good long time. I didn't think I needed the larger gallon size.

I picked up a 4gal jug from my local hardware store for about $20 over winter. Down to two gallons. About a gallon went to actually dunking my chain in to clear off all my old chain wax off that the previous cleaners just smeared (I had the rear wheel off doing some other stuff). The other gallon went to other... more pyrotechnic uses...

I used some on my pedal bike and it worked great. I also sloshed some around in my lawnmower engine before I refilled it with oil. The stuff is excellent for removing oil and you can usually find it at any gas station as they have a dedicated pump.
