I don't like the idea of a pregnant woman riding. You are responsible for another person and need to keep that person as safe as you can. That is the job of a mother, like it or not its what you sign up for. You give up riding for 9 months.

Up to the woman to decide for herself. And of course her doc.
A Dad signs up to be a Dad but would not be expected to quit a dangerous job just because he's going to be a Dad. Should we ask him to stop riding because he may get into an accident? Stop eating chips because his cholesterol, start doing crosswords to stave off alzheimers... Until it's proven to be unsafe, why the heck not? Many other light risk activities don't stop. As for pregnancy mood swings? Heehee, a woman knows her moods best and you don't see many getting into accidents on her motorcycle because of road rage or riding when angry. We shouldn't ban young men because of testosterone raging so we shouldn't ban women because of their hormones. Just my two cents and holy happiness, we have a pregnant member? Congrats!! The name 'ninjette', does that have a gender? It would make a lovely name. |

LOL! That was going to be my question. Hehe! I would ride pregnant. I would ride as cautiously as I would 2-up when another life was dependent on my abilities behind the bars. Though hopefully that won't ever be an issue.

funny how i've changed since i got pregnant. the moment i found out i was having a baby i sold my bike. my job is to protect my baby from the moment i conceived, and i naturally did that....even though i thought i'd never get rid of my bike, it was the first thing i ended up doing, and i don't regret it at all.

Given the worlds current population I would practically encourage pregnant riding.
But seriously, I have no problems with it, it's too binary for me to disagree with on the level smoking and drinking are on given either of them will cause harm to some degree, riding you may be fine or you may damage the fetus in a crash, but the risks I would say are minimal enough for me to be ok with it, but not in love with the idea, and given the option of a car or bus I would encourage the car or bus. I would however blame a mother for any form of mental retardation or terminatin due to a motorcycle accident, funny that? |

If you factor in how much space it takes in arable land to feed a single human for a year it surmounts to a lot, not to mention carbon emmisions, but I am hardly one to talk, I fly at least 35,000 miles a year.
I once heard that there are more people alive today than have ever existed, a quick google search proves this to be a lie, however the actual figure is 6.5% of people ever to have existed are alive today, which I still find impressive. I think the risk factor is low enough for riding while pregnant for me to be fine with it, however if it were my wench, i'd probably short her battery and misplace her keys. |

I think if she were to find this post, you might have more pressing concerns than disabling a motorcycle.

We just got through this situation. We both agreed that it would be best to avoid riding or going 2up until after the pregnancy.
We have gone skiing in the first trimester (with doctor approval), because at that point the baby is deep enough in the pelvis that impact trauma is unlikely. Having gone through a miscarriage as well, as amazing as riding is I wouldn't do it. The pain of miscarriage is crazy, especially if it was preventable. |

I think everyone on this forum should be required to have kids. Ninjette owners are way more responsible as a group, on average, than the average population, in my view.
In fact, we should all have at least three kids, to make up for the idiots having kids that look like this. Who's in??!! |

Doubt my wife will stop riding pillion until it gets uncomfortable. Or maybe she'll surprise me.
Maybe we'll just steal from our derby girl friends and call it the 9 month injury. |

Absolutely not for incredibly obvious reasons..
a minor fall even at 5mph could do significant damage. Would be stupid to let your wife/gf do it. |

Also, the idea that a woman should automatically stop any risky behavior when she becomes pregnant is insane and paternalistic. There is a difference between racing AMA and going out for the occasional ride. The former may be objectionable, at least in the later stages of pregnancy; the latter seems totally in the realm of reasonable disagreement on the cost-benefit analysis when you are responsible for another life. Also: Must. Resist. Commenting on.... Off topic population issues! I just taught population ethics this semester. |

as parents its fairly obvious to anyone that you need to protect the child, not assume everything will be fine and continue doing the same things with the same risks. Things are changing so the mindset of the parents should too. Not my problem though..i guess since the child isnt born yet its not as important. |

i wouldn't let my GF ride if she was pregnant, i would let her borrow my truck if anything.
its like saying you would let your best friend drive drunk, or ride without a helmet. sorry couldn't do it... call me a chivalrous pig, i can take it...
