This is a crash site. Not only do people crash but they love to post about it like it's a rite of passage.

I don't see the crashes diminishing as the "riding season" is about to be starting.
Plus, Jiggles has a new bike that he will inevitably crash. |

I wonder what would happen if Jiggles rebuilt and kept a bike after crashing would it then be crash proof or would a tear in the space time continuum form

Jiggles = one-man statistic generator
Must be the fact that he's such a chick magnet. They can't keep away from him. Unfortunately they're driving cars when they feel that sudden pull. In all seriousness, I for one hope we never have to hear another Jiggles crash story! It always sucks when someone gets hurt. |

I had one of these when I was a kid. Great toy… put it together, run it into something and when it hits it comes apart. Rebuild it, destroy it, over and over.
You need one of these, full size, shaped like a bike. |

Nah, I think depending on how my settlement goes, I may get another 250 that will be dedicated track & gf learning bike.
If I'm on a bike at the track that I haven't put my heart into modding I'll be less worried about crashing it.

Do it! You've still got your black 250? An additional 250 to fully modify and experiment on would be awesome, I have been tempted with a rieju rs3 to turn into a racing machine.

Yea I suppose I could always use it as a test for performance mods too. But for the most part I'd leave it stock. Definitely wouldn't want to install an area p just to have my gf drop it and break it.

The great thing about the ninja is I can afford to crash it, it's stupid to buy a £13,000 bike $19600 that's really great but you low side it and you're out of pocket already and the repairs are too dear and your insurance will be way too high.
Ninja 250, I insure it for the same price as satellite tv, and the parts are cheap ish. I am bummed it's been discontinued, parts will get harder to find. |

It's not that we don't care, it's just you have to have a different outlook on the event.
It's only metal and plastic. As long as the rider comes through, it's all good.

I made this thread as a bit of an experiment. There's a sharp divide between those who say crashing on a motorcycle is inevitable (not if but when) and those who say all accidents are avoidable. Well I say if 85% of people on this forum have been involved in an auto accident in one way or another at some point in their lives, how can you say the chances of being involved in a motorcycle accident aren't just as likely?

i hit a big rock in the road... that kinda sucked. i hit a big bush/tree, that kinda sucked. i hit a car, that hurt a little. lowsiding over a crest was pretty fun. i locked up the front on my buddies 250 in a parking lot with no gear and dropped it, that one hurt a bit more. just recently i lowsided and bonked my head pretty nice but it was a fun slide. i learned an immense amount from every single crash. its not that anybody doesn't care. obviously nobody wants to crash. but these things happen. there is no need to fret on an accident. just fix the mistakes, fix the damage, and go back and do it right the next time.

On one hand...
Hearing about other people's crashes has motivated me to buy extra gear (like real motorcycle boots and leather pants) and take up track riding. Maybe one of the reasons I haven't crashed is because of what I've learned here.
On the other hand, I have to say that based on this forum, it seems the typical motorcyclist is more willing to take risks than I am. Some of the crash threads show such poor judgement, I don't know where to begin. And these are just the incidents that people are admitting to in public. What about all the stupid stuff that no one posts? Honestly, I trust people on motorcycles less than people in cars. I've come to the conclusion that group rides are just a bad idea. Let's teach the new guy what fast is. If he crashes and breaks his ankle it'll be good for a laugh later on. No thanks. I'd rather go to a track, have some clear rules and have an ambulance ready. |

What.? There is enough crashing threads. It lame seeing the same thing over and over about crashing. People shouldn't be posting about it. Unless they have specific questions. Nothing to be proud of.

I don't read the crash thread, just for my entertainment per se' -- I read it to see how I can avoid having an accident. As for group rides I have not been able to ride with a "large" group, just my regular riding group. I can say we have a couple of idiots around here that just make me nervous the way they ride. They will go zooming around here without observing their surroundings, obviously. We have a neighbor across the street that has young kids playing in their yard - who is to say whether or not they aren't going to go "get" something that went in the road. We have a few curves and hills on our road that you can not see too much until you are at the top of the hill or in the curve, I cringe when I get to those areas thinking what if they have an accident or racing down the road and have a high/low side, am I going to see it and can stop or be able to move out of the way? Am I going to run over them when they are down? To me it is fools like that - that give bikers a bad name. For me, anything I can read, good or bad, it keeps me on my toes and I try to stay alert, not get complacent or too frigid and do what makes me feel good . . . ride

I highsided in my first and hopefully only wreck and it sucked. I flew alot straighter than the one in the gif though. about 20 feet or so into a ditch with my bike landing about 3-5 feet from my head.

For some.... sharing could be part of the healing. "Encouragement" to get back in the saddle again.
I counted 29 downs (bar touching earth) last season, that "I know of" for the large group I ride with. Most of those downs were on the track. I made a compilation video of the crashes and it was over 10 mins long. hahahahahahaha

Bikers crash, it's a fact of life, whether it's someone who had an idiot pull out across them, someone who lowsided, ran out of road or whatever it's natural enough to talk about it. Who said that they were proud of crashing, crashing means someone ****ed up, usually damaging a fairly expensive piece of machinery. If people want to tell their story who are you to say they cant |
