I just put my deposit down yesterday on a non abs version with no price issues at all. Sure I am being charged to have a front tire put on and delivery but the price is $4799 non abs and $5499 with abs. I don't have the exact total in front of me but there is NO increase of MSRP at least from my dealer.
Also... I should receive mine as early as next month or end of Nov.... |

Did they put the kick stand mount in a better location? Having to grind off the kick stand mount for track riding blows!

If you guys are calling dealers to price it out then ask for the price of the bike and also ask for your total OTD price to see what it actually is Not all dealers will try to rip people off but some will so its better to shop around -- if you are putting down a deposit then get the total price quote in writing so theres no misunderstandings later on when you go pick up the bike

I asked this in another thread but I will try here since I did not get a response. Does the SE green/ebony cost extra for the non abs version. I saw that that is the standard color for the abs version. Also which version of the new 300 are you interested in or getting, and is abs really worth the extra $900.

If a full system it will need a bung for O2 for the ECU and probably a programmable ECU. Slip on ...hmmmm...

Who needs crappy stock O2s that don't do anything. AP and POWER COMMANDER!!!
Although wouldn't it be cool if @ecotrons could make just the ECU for the new 300 and you just pop that sucker in and let it self tune!

They already make power commanders for the european 250's. Same idea here. Slip-on = fart cannon. Nothing more. |

I agree with you both. I like having an O2 sensor for tuning as long as the ECU management will let you lock it into closed loop for tuning to get the maps dialed in.

You'll be fine putting a bung on an aftermarket exhaust in the same spot as it's in on the stock system. Yoshi does this for the European 250's. There's an oxygen sensor bung in the mid-pipe.
So you'll be good to run an aftermarket full system and keep your oxygen sensor. no fart cannon needed |

I stopped by my local dealer today. Best price I could get was $100 off the non-ABS MSRP down to $4700. After MN sales tax and license, my out the door price is $5467.68
I was a tough call because they have 2 red 2012 models in the showroom with a sticker price of $3850.00 They bought them from another dealer that went out of business, and that is why they were priced so low. I was told it was about a 2 month wait unitil my 300 would be in stock. The dealer also said orders could be sent on friday, and most likely anything after the initial order would be backordered for over 6 months. |

While the 0-60 thread was interesting, it was far from scientific. Comparing jetted newgens with area-p exhausts against stock pregens with 15 tooth sprockets wasn't exactly fair. There was also a lot of variance with rider weight and skill which can have a huge effect on times.

Its good that you got at least $100 off and no crazy dealer fees were added on
No way it'll be b/o for 6 months -- demand will be high in the beginning so they may not be able to keep bikes on the showroom floor, but there will be bikes to sell Kawi will be building these bikes at max capacity for a while (unless theres a natural disaster)

Anyhow, I'm a string bean. My was jetted with a full exhaust. I likely could have launched better, but if I didn't get it, I doubt it's easily done. I would just be thrilled to see a 6-flat time to 60. |

It's all in the launch. I did a nice hard launch last time I was home to beat someone off the light and get to an entrance ramp. Dumb, but that launch was really something Just a hint of a wheelie (like just enough to get a wiggly front end) and I got all the clutch engaged asap. It rocketed to 35 from 0.
I think I might be able to get down to 6.15 or so. 6 is going to be hard, especially now that I'm running 15/45 gearing |

Theoretically, if I tap the limiter in 2nd at 14,500 rpm, 2nd gear will get me going 60.9 mph.
So it might still work. I need to get my top end figured out Sorry for going so OT here. Jiggles and I are scheming. |

Ah, well do that then!
I am having problem shifting at wot on my 250. I've lowered the shifter so its easy to hit yet it seems like I'm never fully clicking it into gear, and it only happens when I'm doing a WOT run. Then it will either fall into neutral/pseudo neutral or when I go to shift it fully shifts into the gear I was just in. Its super annoying

In any case, Kawasaki sport bikes have consistently come in a little better than HP=cc/10 at the rear wheel. I didn't see any independent dyno runs out there, but I'm sure they will pop up soon enough. It will be interesting to see if the 300 can measure up to the expected 30-32 HP at the rear wheel. One other thing is that I haven't seen anything about the MPG or Top Speed of the Ninja 300 yet. There have been references that the 300 does better than the newgen in terms of MPG, but I haven't found anything to confirm that yet.

With out any information I would guess the pre gen bike made its peak hores power above 10000 rpm. And I will guess the new 300 makes its power from 6500 on up.And have a nice wide power band.

this is lame, i was hopiong that we would also get the 300 here
instead they give us a castrated 250cc version of your 300! although i wonder if it is possible to mod the new 250 into a 300 by changing a couple parts with the US/Australian models, to get the longer stroke, since the bore is the same size! sorta really want this new model bike... lol
