Commute from NJ to NY with bike??
Anyone here is currently commuting from NJ to NY using the tunnels or the GW bridge ?
I wanna know about the experiences/traffic etc... going back and forth between NJ/NY before deciding to maybe buy more gears so I can commute on bike to my new job instead of subway. My job is in the bronx and I live in jersey city (dont tell me to quit and get something closer because im gonna need this job to upgrade to the mighty ninja 300 ) Thanks guys, cheerrrrr! |

I've only been to NJ/NY a couple of times on my bike but not in heavy traffic (I'm from CT) and quite a bit in my car.
Based on my experience it wouldn't be much fun especially during rush hours but it's quite do-able but be careful, and stay alert. No spacing out, looking away for more than >1 sec, ever. Those cagers drive to kill and will keep on driving after that. Edit: ATGATT is a must, invest in a balaclava/scarf during the winter. |

If you're going against the traffic or in the off hours, it's fine. If you're riding in traffic, it sux.

I lived on the corner of Spring and Thompson above Ben's Pizza if you are going to commute, get some warm clothing Manhattan is cold in winter.
