Coolant Leak
So while i was doing my carbs this week i noticed this
on the left side of the bike down near the very bottom, close to the kickstand, there is a 90 degree metal piece, but it is not one piece, it looks like a verticle pipe cut at 45 mated with a horizontal pipe cut at 45 and then welded...anyway.......coolant is leaking from the out of the seam where they mated anyone else have an problems with this? could i just patch it? for those that dont know the history of my bike...it was layed down on the right side and considered totalled by insurance but i bought it back and got it running again np...do you think i could take it to the dealership and claim warrenty? there is no way it was damaged in the wreck as it is on the complete opposite side ill try to get some pics up sometime for clarification |

I know the exact location you are talking about and I have been suspecting mine of leaking something also, though not sure it was coolant or not. I have been keeping an eye on it but am still uncertain as to whether it is really leaking or not. But it does appear to be a cheap seem that is apt to leak.

yes, this is def a coolant passage. Mine has not been leaking since I cleaned it up either. I have been keeping a close eye on it.

could your crash have moved something that connects to it and ended up fracturing the weld?

not sure...doesnt make sense to me since this on the left side and the bike went down on the right...weld would have been pretty weak to begin with if they it jolted it loose...considering the lack of damage to the rest of the bike

Take a trip to a hardware store. Im sure you can weld it if you want. Then touch it up with some black paint. Strange that it cracked like that though!
This stuff looks good. http://www.solder-it.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=224 Though I'm sure there are tons of other products you dont have to heat. Maybe just some JB weld!
