Got an issue
So this morning i go to make a run to the bank. I am in my car having just dropped off my kids off. Now to give some back story here, in my town there are 3 red ninja 250s all new gen. Myself, Linuss and a unknown third. We have both seen him before but never got a chance to talk. SO this morning i notice him behind me at a light. as soon as he can he flies by me and starts doing some serious leaning while switching lanes. laying flat on the tank with legs on the passenger pegs. and just generally riding like a squid. Now the real problem is this. He actually seems to live in the apts behind my house. there is only one road to exit our neighborhoods. his helmet is almost the same as mine. to a casual observer they would say its the same. I really dont want to be confused with this guy as being a squid/ass of a rider. especially with LE.
at first i was excited about another RED 250 owner in my area but now im not so sure. |

I wouldn't worry about it. Let him ride like a ass and people will be able to tell who is who by the way you ride.

Maybe he just had a crazy day and normally does not do that. Perhaps you will get a chance to talk to him, and you will know a bit more.
I passed my motorcycle license test with a nutcase. I listened a lot at first, and then told him that I think he should save all his stunts for an empty parking lot, buy some good gear, and avoid public roads because he will just cause an accident. It did not help, at least not immediately. We parted ways with him being very cross and me being concerned. What will people think? People who know you and who care, know how you ride and know that you don't do crazy stuff. Others will see another crazy bike rider, and perhaps form or modify their general opinion about motorcyclists. Not much you can do about it, I think. Not much to worry about, either. Buying a different helmet or a jacket won't help. Most people just see a motorcycle. Just hope he gets some sense in his head before something bad happens. |

I've been concerned with this as well. If a cop was chasing a run away rider on a similar looking bike and in similar gear as me then the cop could easily assume that I was the culprit if he were to lose the other rider and find me. Then I could be like "omg, wtf" when he pulls me over and whips out his pistol yelling at me to get on the ground. I understand how this could be an issue for you and I wish you the best of luck.

That is true about 99% of the time but I have seen a couple weird chases...
I have seen a little scooter, probably 50cc outrun an officer in Annapolis city... the scooter rider went down an alley between 2 buildings, came out on the other side (where I was on the sidewalk across the street), rode off the curb and down the street where he cut in between another alley. By the time the officer came all the way around the block the scooter was long gone. It well known in this area that one community backed up to another community and all the way at the back there was a playground which connected the two. It was flat and narrow because of the playground equipment that led directly into the back of the other community. For a while police would chase street motorcycles, scooters, dirt bikes, and go carts and they would just cut through to the other side pretty much ending the chase unless backup could arrive at the other side in time to block it... now there is a big telephone pole there laying down blocking the way, LOL. |

This is a good idea. Also, you could add other decals, a tinted windscreen or other small effects to make your bike different.

Buy a different helmet or coat. Rimtape is a good idea.

who cares what people say or think? i'm sure the conversation will come up by this LE guy and you can say that wasn't you and move on. or put a freaking sticker on your bike to help you stand out from the other rider.

If he keeps riding like an then he might not have a bike/life long enough for you to have to worry about it.

I agree this is an issue. If your in a town where you can count the number of 250s it will be easy to mix you up and if he is riding like an a$$ local LE (and other drivers) will single him and you out because of it. I would definitely try and make yourself distinguishable from him.

Issue is, cagers in our area suck ass and hate sportbike riders, and have threatened to brake-check them. Therefor, if they think a good rider si actually a squid, they might take their aggression out on the wrong person.
What do I mean "might"... they do it daily. See, Dave, this is why I have red tape on my helmet! |

paint his bike green. It will make your bikes look different and slow his down at the same time.
