Ignition coil shorting?
Hey all,
Haven't been here in a while since my friend kept our EX250E and doesn't use forums haha. In any case, another friend picked up the same year bike and it has a strange problem. The right ignition coil is triggering the plug non-stop, as if its at really high RPM. This happens any time you turn the key to on position, no cranking. Is it just a shorted ignition coil? Also, the bottom fairings on these E-series were rare, any clue if they were sold with every bike? Cheers, Phil. |

the coil is powered to charge a field. when the power is disconnected, the field collapses into the pickup side and the power from the field goes the only place it can, through the plug to the common ground to relieve the tension from the field.
if it is sparking non-stop, there could be an issue with the wiring, or the CDI could be malfunctioning. it wouldn't be the pickup coil because you said it only happens to one. probably a wiring issue.
