New Rider from Florida

Hi guys from Ocala Florida and piked up my first bike about a month ago and loooove it..98 250 with 24k and yesterday after riding a little over an hr for a dang stock airfilter i went across the street for dinner and mind u its four lanes of traffic and ate and then went to leave and first gear np and second rear wheel locked up and i almost crapped myself lol. The chain snapped. Guy i got the bike from said it was a new chain and sprocket.... well thank god i wasnt hit or anything but left a nice little 10 foot skidmark and was able to pull her up over the sidewalk. and called across the street and guy came over and brought me and the bike back over lol. anyway the rear had a 49t and im guessing front was 14 but craked the front sprocket cover in half and messed up the sprockets. jumped on ebay and just bought a used cover for $10 and a jt 14t and a 47t sprocket for $48 on good old ebay.

Starting to make it pretty again i painted the rear piece that hold the rear reflectors and plate. was very dully and also wet sanded the tail lens because they were nasty and yellow, they arent clear anymore but... a lot better looking. Also got get some hi temp paint and hit the motor a little and find some more screws for the ones its missing... painted the mirrors flat black but gonna go with gloss but other than that... i happy

Welcome, Mike! Glad you're OK. I like the paint job!

14/47 will make it plenty peppy off the line, but it'll be winding out at freeway speed. I ran 15/44 on my pre-gen: a bit doggy from a stop, but pleasant at highway speeds.

Ocala, I thought that was horse country.

I rode with a bunch from Ocala a few New Years ago. We did Sugarloaf. Good bunch of guys (and girls).
