Favorite Bikes From EICMA?
Okay, the new bikes are rolling out this week! What are your favorites thus far?
I think at the top of my list is the XSR900. http://lanesplitter.jalopnik.com/201...t-a-1742891624 |

I've mainly just been checking lanesplitter for updates.
Ducati announced a few bikes today: a 400cc Scrambler, new Diavel, Offroad mulistrada, Panigale 959. Yamaha also announce a MT-10. Uses similar engine to new R1 but it looks fugly. Honda updated the CB500f. |

Favorite thus far? The basically not new at all Panigale...which is a sad response for a show like this. None of the new bikes I've seen provide any interest for me. Extra cruiser-y Diavel? Factory street fighters that have none of the (minimal, for me) allure of actual street fighters? Assorted other generic things? No thanks.

The price on the 400cc Scrambler is terrible. Only $500 less than a full on Scrambler and the bike has several downgrades, not to mention half the engine.
Bad Ducati, Bad!

Honestly I was really kinda underwhelmed with the offerings this year. The MT-10 is hideous even if its mechanical/electrical package is good. The XSR900 just doesn't look/feel right to me. The Ducatis are all meh little add/on editions. I have not seen anything really that really grabbed my attention.

Where most starter buttons you hold down and release when the bike starts (momentary) you push the button, release and the bike continues to crank.
My Ducati Hypermotard had that feature. Can't say I'd buy a bike over that one feature. |

I'm happy Suzuki is finally changing that hideous headlight on the Gixxer. New light is like 1/3 the size of the current model. The 2017 GSXR1000 actually looks good! And the variable valve timing will be interesting.
I too am loving the R nineT Scrambler. It's such a great time to be a motorcyclist! |

I agree completely. The really blew it. I thought they would have had a completely new engine for the 400cc. Not just a sleeved 803cc, worse suspension, brakes, etc. These will NOT sell in the US. Good luck Ducati.

You still sound more optimistic than the crowds on the CBR forums I frequent. No updates since 2007 - to say they're overdue would be an understatement.

He judges the motorcycle market on what Suzuki is doing with their supersports. Sounds like a terrible author. The motorcycle market has had a life for quite a few years now. Suzuki has just been years behind.

you might share his viewpoint on the relative lifelessness of the market. Or you might not; subjective opinions are like that, no?

But I see the smaller CC bikes as the way to create a new group of riders and put some actual life into the market. The manufacturers see this too. Just look at all the new motorcycles in the 250-900cc range that have come out over the past couple of years. Here you can see the actual market share (2013) in the United States. http://www.statista.com/statistics/2...ers-in-the-us/ Dudes quote would make more sense if he said, Quote:

Don't know if this was announced at EICMA but it's one sexy bike. Agusta Brutale 800. It's even a triple apparently.

Certainly some quirky things at the show Honda CB4 Concept Bimota Tesi 3d The Augusta in the post above mine is the MV Agusta Dragster RR LH44 specifically. The LH44 being a reference to Lewis Hamilton. "A limited run of 244 hand-built motorcycles" as I read it. I can't say I've been keeping track, but the last time I read a review of the Brutale their electronics were dramatically underdeveloped. Hopefully the new model - which has even more electronic aids - doesn't fall victim to similar complaints. edit: Hamilton himself earlier this year, on a standard plebeian Brutale 800
