question about safety switches (clutch)
I am working to make my 2009 a dedicated track bike. From what I gathered on the kickstand switch I just solder the 2 wires together. But I am trying to eliminate the left hand cluster or switches. What do I do with the clutch safety switch?

Take it off, al it does is makes it so you can start the bike in gear.

This is particularly true at a race start, but I can imagine some track day scenarios as well.

I want to do the right-cluster-to-left swap with the quick turn throttle on my pregen race bike. I will be keeping the clutch switch as there is no point in removing it if you are looking for weight loss as it only weighs grams. I can get the same performance boost if I stop drinking beer (not going to happen BTW).

Hmm... My pregen's clutch safety switch broke, and I'm pretty sure I can start it in gear. Is it different?

Now I can start the bike in gear in an emergency. Only problem is the bike always thinks the clutch is pulled so it can be started in gear even without the clutch lever being pulled. I am much less worried about that possibility though. Sorry I cant tell you specifics about wire colors or positions in the plug. I did this a while ago and don't remember but its pretty easy to trace by looking at wire colors. |

Maybe im reading this wrong, but to me it looks like the circuit is opened when the clutch is pulled in, this snip is from the wiring diagram.

I tracked it down, and all I did was cut the cover to the wires and pulled out the separate ones for the switch. So I wont have the huge connector with all the other wires, just the 2 going to the switch.
