Custom Luggage Rack/Platform
After seeing what was available for these bikes, and the fact that a setup that could hold anything more than a water bottle would cost over $500, I decided to get creative.
Here's my progress from yesterday: https://youtu.be/UA3I9kyaZ2o I'll be picking up the flat plate from the store over lunch today. Hopefully I can finish it tonight and get it painted. |

Is that a steamer trunk not for nothing but what are you packing in there?
Don't get me wrong I'm a believer in DIY projects, so well done sir, well done indeed.

Everything It'll be for camping and such. Also if I ever go on a road trip, I'll be able to pack more than bag of skittles and a T-shirt. Also I like the cost breakdown of this thing: -HR stock, plate of steel: `$25 -Dewalt DS400 Box: $55 Now all i need to do is cover up the dewalt text with a big ass kawasaki badge to make it look like an OE option. lol |

Dang. So how will that handle in the wind? Are you planning to make any kind of wind-break or streamlining on the front side?
I always admire the DIY projects. I'm not that handy. |

As far as wind resistance goes, the top of the box is a bit lower than my shoulders. In reality, the drag impact should not be too substantial since Im already a big drag on the bike the way that I ride [6'1", 210]. I'll have to see how it does this weekend. If I can still cruise at 80mph without being at WOT, i'll consider it a success. |

Good luck! I was looking at even just the single box as being out in the wind, but I'm short (5'4").

I go around to finishing this thing up last night
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA9i...ature=youtu.be My phone ran out of memory at the end of the video, so thats why it cut off. My initial impressions are that highway riding isnt really affected by the box. You'll feel cross winds a bit more, but I didnt notice that I really had to crank the throttle open to maintain speed or pass someone. Next steps: 1) Modify a rear seat to fit around the flat stock "risers" so that I dont get stuff flying into the hole that is currently there or just water. 2) Figure out how to add brackets for saddlebags 3) B****s and hoes. B****s and hoes |

If those 2 tiny bolts are what's holding that thing on, that bread is probably all you want In there.
If you don't have a plate for that to mount on, you'll want one. Bumps and vibrations will break welds, and fatigue plastic. I think it's a good start, but won't have any longetivity as it sits
