R6 Throttle Tube Mod Troubles
OK bought an R6 Throttle Tube and proceeded to install it to get the WOT on one twist mod. Well installation went fine but the cables are biding somewhere i.e. twisted to WOT and the tube won't snap back I assembled everything with no cables........great nothing binding. Then tried one cable at a time nothing binding. But when both cables were in place and I just held the assemble together (no bolts) something is binding and the throttle won't snap back from WOT.
HELP!! |

its the return cable the angle is to sharp in the housing due to the bigger cam.
either dremel the angle back some, or remove the return cable , i removed my cable, not a track day or race org requirment. |

I second the removal of the second throttle cable. I have the r6 throttle tube and didn't have any problems. But I've always ment to remove the second cable. (Its not required for anything).

I put the newer version 09 maybe, that is suppose to be closer to 1/6 turn on mine. Had to do a little dremel work on the inside. Also had to remake the throttle cable bracket that goes onto carbs. Cable was to short the way it was until I shortened the bracket.
After reading about it binding with return cable on, I pitched it, never put it back on and never have had a problem. |

OK as you all said I ditched the return throttle cable and modified the the R6 tube with a dremel. Works like a charm. Thanks everyone.

Hi, I noticed in my case that there was some slack in the return cable at the throttle body side. This was causing the throttle to not snap back. Check if that's the same problem
With you. |

Likely, no. Possible, maybe. I haven't had mine stick, hang up, or anything but snap back. The carbs have return springs on them for a reason. The return cable is so if the unbelievable should happen you can pull it back shut. But im thinking what ever it is that is holding them open is going to be tougher than the cable and plastic housing if its held open. With the exception of them getting grime and filthy there should be no reason it doesn't snap back.

My first car had a shoddy, backyard engine swap done on it. They had the wrong spring or something on it, and it would occasionally get caught up on something and not return all the way. It was fun popping the hood and hopping out at stop signs to get my screaming engine back to idle.
