Starter motor carbon brush
I have a ninja 250 2010 model run 55000kms.
Looking for the sizing details or an alternative for the carbon brushes installed in the self starter motor as i am unable to procure the same in India. Anyone has experience replacing it or repairing it. |

i was having starting problem, then i checked the battery his was showing 13V and the relay was also doing a click sound when i pressed the starter. I opened the starter motor and one of the carbon brush was a 5mm (service limit) which was sometimes working and sometimes would not crank. hence was able to figure the same. Now the problem is that getting the brush with the exact dimension is difficult in india. i am able to get one which is 5.5 mm in width but it is a bit shaky, the default width is 7mm ( I Believe). Since production of the 250 is already stopped not sure where to find it. the service center here in india charges a bomb and they will replace the complete motor for upwards of 500$, which makes not sense. hence looking for alternatives. Kindly guide. |

Partzilla very good. Confirm with them they have in stock and shipping-charges.
Many eBay sellers will drop-ship from China factory direct to you. Haven't been able to find just brushes for new-gen '08-12 bikes. part# 21039-1066 is complete brush-assembly with 2 new brushes. Much easier replacement. Last futzed with by DannoXYZ; June 18th, 2018 at 01:40 PM. |

I bought an 07' Pre Gen one year ago and have used many on line retailers for parts supply. Partzilla it the least expensive and most reliable parts source for me. I've also used cheapcycleparts.com but they are a little more expensive.
If I had to buy a part today Partzilla.com would be my first, and probably only, stop. You can trust them. I don't know if they ship to India but I think they will. They are no small outfit. Bill

Another good outfit i've ordered from is this one. Might be cheaper shipping since they're in Europe.

8 years old? I don't have any vehicle that new! I still find it fairly easy to find parts for my 1972 Kawasaki H2. No, don't give up on an 8 year old motorcycle!
