Hello i have a problem with my bike.
Hello iam new here i just signed up, and i have a problem with my bike, kawasaki ninja 250. I dont know how to fix my bike and i cant afford taking it to the garage to fix it. And i really missed up lots of stuff when working on it. But the bike is still running.
I dont know why this happens to my bike if you could please tell me any ideas what i may chek. When i ride my bike the head light blinks it keeps blinking and the rpm gauge and speed gauge and the fuel gauge keeps going up down, then she's like has no power its very weak when i give throttle, so i stop the bike and then start it up agian it starts strong then weak and the same problem occurs do you have any idea what that might? |

I would start by verifying that the battery voltage is above 13 with the engine running and revved a little.

As TJ noted - a dead or dying battery can do what you described.
You will need a volt meter to check it. |

Auto stores provide free battery checks, incase you dont want to spend money on a HF cheapo meter.

They can also load-test battery.
Although having free HF multimeter really comes in handy for troubleshooting any other electronic issues later. http://www.hfqpdb.com/best_coupon/7+...TAL+MULTIMETER |

A volt meter is worth having in your tool box. I probably have 3 or 4, with at least one being high quality. Most were inexpensive or free. |

An old style analog meter is really the best kind to have if you have only one, because they don't go nuts around ignition systems and outer sources of RF interference.

Welcome.
While it could be a battery with poor internal connection it sounds more likely that it is a bad electrical connection that may be agrivated by movement. Take covers off and idle the bike while pulling around on electcal harnesses and see if engine and lights act up. You may be able to pinpoint the problem that way. |

Just giving affordable options. The stores usually let you borrow equipment as well if you dont trust them. I own one high quality Extech meter I earned(free) a long time ago that I use alot.

Not sure what your auto or bike retail store options are there. You can get multimeter easily enough from China. This is same unit as Harbour Freight.

That's an amazing price from AliExpress. I recently got an audio compressor for guitar through them for $18. They take most of the worry about ordering from China away, don't they?

I don't know what you mean in #4, but it looks like your battery and charging system are OK. Spark noises are not OK. You need to find out what's causing that. Start by disconnecting the battery cables, ground first when disconnecting (last when connecting). Then inspect the cables and the cable terminals, clean them, clean the battery terminals, lightly grease them, and reinstall the cables. Then see if the spark noise is gone. Your problems may also be gone. If not, let us know.

When you hit the starter button you will hear a clicking/arcing noise from the starter relay, which is normal, but you shouldn't hear any arcing sound when you turn it off.

Yep, lots of auto-parts places. Toyota seems popular.
You can also buy lots of stuff directly from factories in China via AliExpress. Cheaper shipping than to U.S. too! |

It matters. The pregens use CR8HSA, but I don't know if newgens do too. You should read your owner's manual and use what it recommends.

I don't think that would cause the issue you described in your first post though. I still think you have a battery or connection issue based on the symptoms you described. The battery readings aren't where they should be with the engine off and the arcing noises aren't normal. I'd plan on replacing the battery before doing anything else. |

Yeah, not sure how spark-plugs can cause arcing noises when key turned ON, they don't fire until you actually crank engine.. Especially strange when turning OFF the bike... very odd.
Check all cable-connections starting from battery (both ends of every cable). Here's related thread: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=318421 Last futzed with by DannoXYZ; June 28th, 2018 at 10:37 AM. |

I wonder if the "sparking" noise he's hearing is the battery off gassing after being charged while the bike is running.?
