Race Fairing Stay
I have been looking around to find a diagram of a stay, since no one produces them, do any of you ex or current racers have a diagram on how to make a race stay for the 08-12 250?

I have a very simple one I made from composite hockey stick shafts and 1/16" sheet aluminum. It is cheap, strong, and durable and has survived three crashes.
I'll try to get better pics than these, but it's very simple to make. |

Do you need lateral locating of fairing? Or just vertical then using skin of fairing to locate laterally?
Can do a lot with tubing-bender and TIG welder. |

1. Take the stock one, cut off everything that isn't directly connecting the bodywork to the body.
2. Drill lots of holes in what's left. 3. Spray with Rustoleum. 4. Use zip-ties to hold your tach in place. 5. Use the money you saved on a track day.

I wonder about need for the knee-joint though. Seems like the stays can connect directly to bracket. I may make one! |

I doubt you'd save much money compared to the one I made from hockey sticks since I pulled it out of a trash can

A couple observations: 1. use the stock and start a diagram 2. measure the distance from the frame mount to the mirror mounts. 3. measure the angle of the line from the top of the frame mount to the mirror mounts. |
