Who's still riding? I am.
After 3 weeks of rain, these 10 days or so in Vancouver are mostly sunny and fairly cold - around 5C/40F highs, freezing lows. The diehard bikers crawl out of the woodwork, saluting each other in high spirit. My blue 05 ZZR is in the mix somewhere, including Stanley Park and Spanish Banks where I spotted a red new-gen. Not dressed particularly warmly - just the Joe-Rocket jacket with a T-shirt and sweater underneath, a silk scarf, without the rain barrier - and not feeling particularly cold either. The fairing really proves its worth in the cold, and a stuffed tank bag cuts the draft down to a breeze. When wet, the bike stays dry under a good rain cover in front of the house. Right now, 10 pm, there is frost on both my car and the bike cover, but tomorrow afternoon, I'll be riding again. Another good thing about cold riding. The curvy waterfront roads are almost tourist-cars free. The biggest risk is a speeding ticket.

Yep, still riding. I saw one other person on a bike a few days ago. Seems like the end of the season was about a month or two ago for just about everyone else around here. I leave for work around 5:30AM and temps have been between 24-31. My Gerbings heated jacket and gloves handled it like a champ.

It's been raining a lot until the last couple of days, but the last few days have been clear and dry (and cold, especially in the morning). Yesterday it was right around the freezing mark when I went to go to work. I was tempted to drive my car, but the car windows were covered with ice, and I figured it would take a good ten minutes to clear them! Instead, I pulled the cover off the bike and rode to work. It was mighty chilly, but the ride home was decent (about +6c).

Rode into work yesterday during the rain and loved it, especially after un-bundling myself bone dry and toasty, to the surprise of my co-workers. I intend to keep riding til the snow sets in and start back soon as the roads are clear.

We only have two seasons here in Los Angeles (summer and marginally cold summer), and both of which are great for riding, so I don't have to put her down. I might bench her during those one or two days of rain we're bound to get, as I've heard not great things about the stock IRC tires in the rain, but otherwise, I'm still riding everyday

We don't even get the marginally cold winter here, we get maybe 5 days of cool (60s) a month during the "winter", and maybe 1-2 days in the 50s. Anything lower is exceptionally rare.
Today it's in the 80's, perfect winter weather. :-)

Rode to work Monday, it was 23F when I left home. Passed this morning, it was 13F with sunny skies. I have to find a solution for my hands as they get very cold after about 5 miles.

I've been riding to work all week. A nice break in the rainy weather. Gotta use that sunshine while we have it. A little chilly but nothing a good set of thermals can't cure.

Same, riding through the winter. The only thing I don't like about winter, is that it takes longer to gear up. Other than the gearing up with layers and stuff, I don't mind it.

Nah, summer doesn't bother me, I love the heat. Those 95+ summer days are perfect for me :-)
I actually might be moving to Georgia in a couple of months for a job....still not sure how I'm gonna handle that one (I put a jacket on when it's 75 out).

Just got home from a short ride - luckily in Central Texas the cold only last for a few weeks, the rest of the time is spent sweating.

Still riding, but not commuting
At the house, 450' elevation, the foothills are turning green again...and I'm golfing in shorts.
At work, 7000' elevation, there's just enough snow/ice to keep me in the cage. Central California/Sierra Foothills.... |

Rode to work all day this week, except today because it was flurrying (snow), but it didn't stick to the ground. Will ride tomorrow if the ground is not slippery, temperature in the 20's, wind chill in the teen's.

Don't have the 250R registered yet but have continued to commute on the scooter up to today when we got 4 inches of snow. Got caught on campus when the snow started. Was able to get 3.5 miles of my 9.1 mile commute before I had to push it a mile to a friend's place and bum a ride home. I'm hoping we'll get a few 30 degree days to melt the snow and that any accumulation will hold off so I can get some more riding days in. Parking on campus is brutal.

Iv'e only got to ride a few times since the beginning of September, it pretty much rained all of Sep., Oct I rode a few times, but the lack of cold weather gear kept me off the bike for the most part, late Oct/Nov., rear tire finally got so worn that I was scared to ride until I replaced, money woes prevented me from buying a new tire. A few days ago, I got a shiny new BT016 in the mail, and im planning on getting it mounted tomorrow, im pretty stoked.

I rode last weekend - might be able to get another one in before I get too fat The only condition on me riding right now is I won't ride in heavy wind, as that's always bothered me and without the trees as a buffer now, it's not the worth the risk for me.
Hey Paul - calling for 1-3" of snow on Saturday

I rode a little the other night and it was my first night in any real low temperatures. I'm pretty sure that i'll need some new gloves and some other warmer gear if I plan on doing it more often. I found out that summer gear doesn't work that well as winter gear. My fingers are still cold.

I walked out to my bike yesterday - and when I looked at the street I saw it was glittering with frost and black ice! I drove my car to work, but by about 9 AM the sun is up and the roads are fine. When I looked out the window of my office through the workday, I saw the occasional motorcycle or scooter out in the sun.
Looks like it will be the same story today. I leave for work in about 20 minutes, but I think I will have to drive: the temp is right at the freezing mark now, and the lawns and cars are all covered with a thick layer of frost. I could ride, but I'm worried about patches of black ice. Ah well; it's supposed to be sunny and dry all weekend, so I'm sure I will get some saddle time in tomorrow and Sunday!

I'd still ride if it were not snowing outside today. People go stupid in Houston if there is snow out there. I mean, they go REALLY STUPID.
It is bad enough in a car, forget the motorcycle. It makes me feel better about not renting the Harley I was planning on doing this week. lol

Temps only dropped to 40's here...no prob at all BUT my finger tips freeze. Low-shield/ no shield on these bikes is a big change for me. Have elect gloves...won't trash manufacturer here but they don't really help. Thinking about dipping the finger tips in latex...anybody have a workable way to keep the fingers warm.
