2020 LED Light bulbs recommendation for 2008 250R
It's 2020, what are the LED light bulbs that you have tried successfully which you would recommend?
Please share. I searched this forum and the threads were pretty outdated. I tried one from eBay and it did not fit even thought vendor said it will on their listing. So, I thought I ask to reduce the back and forth with eBay merchants. |

You'll want a bulb with single LED that mimics placement of filament in incandescent bulb to minimize glare to oncoming drivers.
The Philips Xtreme Ultinon was 1st bulb that actually works similar to incandescent bulb. I think there's a copy now available on superbrightleds.com. Greg737 found it and has been using it for past 2-yrs and have positive reports. |

Cool, thnx Alex.
$30 a bulb is quite pricey but I guess if it fits it's worth it. I think the Philip's version is like $150 per pair! |

That's 2 bulbs for $30 from SuperBrightLEDs.com.
Philips bulb is now 2nd-gen using Luxeon Z-ES LED instead of their own proprietary 1st version which was smaller and more compact. It performs OK, but due to larger than filament size, there's some spray and glare. Nowhere nearly as bad as all those with random COB arrays. Looks like photo was taken at different exposure settings to make LED look brighter. House is more illuminated way up on top on LED shot. Actual difference won't be as dramatic due to DOT regulations on max-lumens output per bulb. Last futzed with by DannoXYZ; July 3rd, 2020 at 01:23 PM. |

Well, I ended up buying a Xenon-like halogen pair from Philips.

Due to difficulties in getting non-incandescent bulbs to work with factory headlight reflector, I'm going with HID retrofit. Lower 35w power consumption and actual double lumens output compared to OEM lights. Thanks @MauR

Thanks, Danno.
The link to the product he used was point to AMZN in Mexico. I search for something similar in US AMZN but cannot find it. Did you you upgrade to this as well, personally? Any links to product would help. |

Just remove ".mx" from URL. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B21R0TA/
Note that these are just lights. You'll still need HID bulbs and ballasts. And custom wiring-harness to make it all work. Default harnesses that come with these kits are generic for autos and you'll have some wires that are too short and some that are too long. From retrofit experience with auto headlights, I prefer 3.0" OEM HID lights from BMW, Acura, Lexus, etc. Higher quality build with heavy-duty cast housings rather than thin stamped sheetmetal. I've found them to have better control of light with less above-horizontal glare. There's also ways to modify cut-off gate to get more light and better penetration on low-beam without changing hi-beam. Currently following earlier examples on Ninja 250. I prefer building my own platform for holding light like MauR's example rather than re-using bulb-socket from factory lights. Not in rush as I won't be commuting in dark until winter. But will definitely finish by then. |

@DannoXYZ and @arthury if i can help with your projects please let me know.
I bought an extra headlight assy to keep one in case something went wrong... By now I'm using LED H1 Bulbs (No ballast and easier wiring) https://www.amazon.com.mx/gp/product...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also I went with two projectors, there's is so much better light output with both. Thinking on testing HID's with dual projectors but LED's are OK. Regards!!!! |
