Various pictures of my different projects
So I have like 4 different projects going on at the moment and as parts start arriving I'll work on each a little every day. I have a
2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXT LS 4.2l 4x4 I got this for free from my girlfriends dad. I didn't even expect him to want to sell it to me but when I asked about it he explained what happened with it when he parked it and then said get it going and it's yours!! I'm working on the ignition system and the throttle by wire system. I have a major engine misfire after replacing the fuel pump and filter. 4 coils tested bad and the plugs were wrong and gapped way to wide. One had damage. Check it out and tell me if you think the damage is from preignition, detonation or mechanical damage? 2000 Yamaha YZ 125 I've been ordering parts as I can find them. Got the bike for a bill and the low cost left a lot of money left over from my bike budget so I didn't think it would be too expensive to get it going. Lots of bad luck with this one made me decide to sell it. If I find the parts I'll probably finish it but it's up for sale now and more than likely it'll sell pretty quick. 1999 Kawasaki Ninja EX250R I thought I got a pretty good deal on my Ninjette. It was a non runner the guy was the second owner. He was only able to start it up a few times but with starting fluid Before I committed to buying it I did some research and I didn't think there could be much it needed to get it started without starting fluid. Before I even researched it I knew it would need the fuel system gone through like any other bike that's been parked for years. The PO told me that he had already been through the carbs but after I got one opened up there is no way it could have been rebuilt or even cleaned. And once I got the carbs "cleaned" I got it to start but I had to turn it off because it was misfiring. Then I replaced the plugs with NGK cleaned up the plug holes as best as possible and put the coils back in. Slight misfire still but I still needed to rebuild the carbs. Had a few issues with the carbs and new parts. So I had to mix and match new and old parts in order to get the carbs dialed in. I probably wouldn't have got it fixed if it wasn't for Ducatiman's advice and a few other members help. Ducatiman recommended that I take the old air screw and put it back in adjusted to 2 1/2 turns out. I also put the old pilot jet back in cause the idle was erratic. Now she screams!! I couldn't believe the acceleration that this little 250cc has!! After I checked the valve adjustment (which was well within spec somehow) all I had left was to sync the carbs. The only issue I was still having was a slight hesitation at throttle up but before I did any carb tuning I wanted to do the valves. Ducatiman recommended that I adjust the air screws in a bit and see if that helps with the hesitation. We will see how it goes. I'm still working on prepping the plastics for paint and all I have left is the tail and a side cover. Everything else has had the decals removed and the adhesive film cleaned off. All the damaged areas of the fairings were fiberglassed or plastic bonded and then fiberglassed. I filled in the noticable imperfections in the Plastics with plastic bonder and sanded the areas smooth and flush. The rest of the fairings were wet sanded and cleaned with Grease and Wax remover then I primed with bonding primer to ensure good paint adhesion. After I finish sanding everything I'll finish priming everything. I already have all of the paint I'm going to need. 1988 GMC Sierra SLT K1500 4x4 single cab long bed I basically stole this from a local dealership. I saw it parked in the back of the guys car lot where he usually parks the cars that have too many issues to even attempt making repairs on. I asked about it and he said he would sell it but as a non runner. I asked why and he explained that the engine lost oil pressure. It still started up but the oil pressure gauge would only show pressure upon startup but once the truck warmed up the gauge barely marks and the check gauges light stays on. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do an oil pump cause this would be the first GMC 5.7l 350 I've owned. So I asked him since I was buying as a non runner if I could take it for a spin. He agreed on the condition that if I blew it up it was mine. So I took it out and stopped at a fueling station to put a little fuel and I took the opportunity to check the fluids. The oil level was so low that it needed 4 quarts to get to the lower area of safe on the dipstick!! If I'm correct that would mean only 1 quart of oil had been in that engine. Needless to say I found the oil pressure issue and corrected it. Once I started the engine I could tell a difference right away. The oil gauge was still marking low pressure though. After I drove it around for a lot longer than I should have driven an unknown vehicle with low oil pressure, oil pressure gauge was marking a lot higher than before I put oil in it. I didn't think it needed an oil pump since there wasn't enough oil to even get pressure. And after I added 4 quarts it started better sounded better How much damage could have happened driving on 1 quart of oil? I drove around 3 miles from the dealership to the fueling station before I added oil. But I have no clue how long it was like that before and if it was driven. I replaced the oil sending unit. But the gauge was still showing the same pressures . So I connected an analog gauge so I could see the actual pressure. I was getting around 9-11 psi for the lowest reading and 45-55 psi high reading I don't know what the specs are for the 350 but this seems just fine to me. One reason I think that the gauge isn't functioning properly is the gauge cluster had been replaced with a cluster from an automatic transmission equipped truck. So maybe they are different. I've also replaced the distributor, plugs, wires, coil oil, filter, air filter and the high pressure switch for the AC. R134a recharge with oil charge. I have plans for the axles, trans and transfer case to get them resealed and new fluids. Then u-joints and whatever else I find along the way. I've posted pics I've taken while working on my toys. Most are of the unbelievable things I've found while making repairs. One is of my gashed hand already mostly healed. Saturday I'm expecting parts for the Trailblazer then I can move forward with diagnosing the rest of the engine trouble codes. After I install the new coils and plugs I will be moving on to the throttle by wire system. Those are the last codes that will need diagnosing. I just hope nothing else pops up!🤪😄😁 |
