Anyone try the cheap windscreens from AliExpress
I was looking at windscreens for my '10 Ninja 250. I find the smoke windscreen looks quite nice on a red bike. AliExpress sells some for dirt cheap, i.e. 1/10th of the price of a Zero Gravity double bubble screen. I'm looking specifically at the one in the link below. The reviews on it are excellent. I'm sure it's not the quality of the Zero Gravity screen. But, from the comments, it fits fine and the pictures of it installed on the bike look good. For $11, it looks like pretty good value I was wondering if anyone has tried one of these cheap screens from AliExpress.

Yup, got one about 4-years ago for my race-bike. Still holding up just fine, even after 3 crashes!

Ali is just portal to connect sellers a buyers, kinda like eBay. You'll find great and bad products along with great and bad sellers. So read all reviews and find trends. Locate a good seller and send them your business. Might cost couple bucks more, but they'll come through for you. Had a battery charger that went bad, and they sent me another one free immediately. Gave me time to troubleshoot original one, turned out to be bad capacitor. Easy enough to fix.
Difficulty is tracking down actual manufacturer of these items. Some are good and some are bad. I bought 2nd double-bubble screen in smoke colour for street 250. This one had rougher edges that required light sanding to smooth out. It came from same seller, but I suspect was made by different factory. |

The same sellers are often on eBay. You end up paying more, but shipping is a lot faster!

Update - received and installed windscreen
I received the the windscreen from Ali Express. Took about 3 weeks receive. The screen was well packaged, with lots of padding to protect it. When I opened the package, I was pleased to see the screen looked very nice. No excess plastic to trim off from the injection molding process, all edge were very smooth. The screen does not have much of a "double bubble" as you can see in the pictures. And it isn't much taller than the stock screen. It looks exactly like the pictures on Ali Express.
The screen fit perfectly, no need to bend it to make it fit. Overall, I think it looks quite good. I wanted a dark windscreen as a cosmetic mod for my red bike and, in my opinion, it looks really good on the bike. I went for a ride on the freeway and the wind hits my helmet about half way, whereas with stock screen wind hit bottom of my helmet or neck area. (I'm 5' 8"). So it's not much of an improvement in wind resistance. Clearly, it's not a ZG or Puig windscreen. Overall for $11, it's better than I expected. I just wanted a dark screen for the cosmetic benefit, and that's what I got . I'm pretty happy with that. |

Update - received and installed windscreen
Quote:
The "double bubble" is not much of a bubble. You can see from the picture comparing it to the OEM screen, it's not much higher than the OEM, compared to say a Zero Gravity screen would be. So I wasn't expecting much difference for wind resistance. I took the bike out on the freeway and there is only a marginal improvement. The wind hits my helmet about half way up (I'm 5' 8") whereas it hit around my neck with the OEM screen. I only purchased the screen because I wanted a dark windscreen for my bike, as opposed to the OEM clear screen (strictly for cosmetic reasons). For $11, I got a dark screen and, in my opinion, it looks really good on the red Ninja. So all in all, I'm pretty happy with it and it's good value. |

Update - received and installed windscreen
I received the black windscreen from Ali Express. Paid $12 US including shipping. The parcel was well packed with lots of padding material. When I opened it, I pleasantly surprised. The screen looks good. The edges are all smooth, no need to cut excess plastic on the edges. The fit was perfect.
The double bubble is not much of a bubble, as you can see in the pics. At its tallest point, the screen is only an inch or two higher than the stock screen. So I wasn’t expecting much difference in air deflection. I took it out for a ride and air now hits me about 1/2way up my helmet (I am 5’’ 8”). With the stock screen the air hit me on the lower part of the helmet and neck. So not a huge difference, as I expected. I wanted a dark screen for my red ninja, for cosmetic purposes only. That’s what I got and it cost me only $12. So I’m happy with that. In my opinion, the screen looks really good on the red bike. |
