New Project, New Member
Hello all,
I was recently thrust into the motorcycle world when I stumbled over a 2004 Ninja 250 with 5500mi on Facebook for just a dollar per cc. I’ve always been a classic snowmobile guy, but this was too good of a deal (and snowmobiles are pretty useless since I moved down to Maryland). The ninja didn’t run, so I started off by cleaning the carbs, adjusting the valves, and draining the oil. The cylinders were flooded and the rings were seized, so I soaked the rings to get compression up to functional levels. I got it to start, only to hear the most violent knocking from the engine I’ve ever heard. I tore down the engine to the crank and found my left rod bearing in the oil screen. I’m currently waiting on new internals so I can bring the engine back to life This site has already been a huge help- I know engines but I don’t know bikes. I’ll be spending a lot of time here during this project. |
