I might be a newbie but I’ll make this train wreck run.
Hey everyone! Recently was gifted a (pretty awful condition) 2004 Ninja 250r from my moms friend. After looking at it the first time (realizing I’m REALLY out of my depth on this one) I decided to stick it out and bring this baby back to life. It’s got a tonne of problems so far which lead me here(y’all have saved my ass way too many times already).
Possible problems for those curious at my misfortune: Won’t shift past 1st gear Mufflers had an angry angle grinder taken to them “like-new” iron oxide chain Holy **** that’s a lot of spiders There was a black widow on the battery(got got by a friend) No keys Wish me luck y’all. 🤣 |

Welcome to the forum, Frank!
* If you're not moving under power when you try to shift from 1st to 2nd, it won't. It's a "feature" (the easy neutral finder). * You may find stock exhaust parts on the used market. * You will almost certainly need to completely disassemble the carburetors and clean them, per this: https://n4mwd.blogspot.com/2013/10/s...-passages.html * I like RK chains for their blend of quality and reasonable price. |

I like spiders but when its on the bike, i don't like them at all. I'm kinda into macrophotography, so i love spiders and other little things. Oh, i'm new here as well. |

Spiders are so cool! They eat pesky bugs that annoy you, like flies, mosquitos, etc.
Your transmission won't shift into 2nd because it's broken! You need to tear it apart to fix like this guy. Then he discovers Positive Neutral Finder feature:

There's an anti-hotwire resistor built into the ignition switch. If you replace it, you'll want to get a genuine Kawasaki part, or make sure to add your own resistor with a generic switch.

for keys, remove helmet lock and get key-code from it. <letter>+<4 digits>
Send key-code to this outfit and get 2 brand-new keys for $21 https://www.cyclekeysonline.com Having original keys is handy so it works on gas-cap and helmet lock as well |
