How to remove sprocket carrier (rear wheel) bearing?
The unsealed ball bearing in the sprocket carrier of my 2014 300 broke. The center ring is of the bearing is in pieces. This makes it impossible to use a bearing puller. There is no lip on the inside to remove the bearing with a punch.
Any other ideas rather than a dremel with cutoff wheel? |

I haven't had mess with that bearing, but usually you can use a punch at somewhat of an angle to whack on the race around its circumference and get it to come out. Heat helps, since aluminum expands with heat more than steel.
If there's really no race available to seat the punch on, I've seen cases when you have to use something like a Dremel tool to make a couple notches in the aluminum to allow access. |

Success! 450F in the oven, then tried the chisel again which got it started. The punch did the rest.

Good! I'm glad the heat worked.
