SOCAL: anyone see the mulholland hwy. ducati crash sunday?

So about a mile up after the rock store, before the snake and when the twisties get going I got the po-po tap from passing riders, saw a group of nice cars pulled off and bam!-there's the ducati sitting up to my right side on the embankment-and I mean high up the embankment. It must have been a bail-off and the bike drove itself up the hill. Would have snapped pictures, but I didn't want to cause another wreck. Anyone else up there on Sunday?

With -"IST" endings adding a negative connotation: Racist, Sexist, Polygamist, wouldn't a person who hates bikes be a cyclist? I am no longer part of the order of bike haters. I am a cycler.

Only once in a while. I did my first big trip to the bay area by myself-450 miles in one day.

Cheez! I consider ducatis a novelty bike. Just hearing them idle, i can tell that they have waaay more power than I need to be sending to a tiny patch of rubber on my rear tire. I hope the rider was ok, but it's hard to empathize with a person who'd even hop on a bike like that on a mountain road.

How is a ducati any different then people riding 600s or 1000s up there, which is what 99% of the sport bikes are? In fact, Ducatis usually make LESS horsepower then their Japanese equivalent (though usually more torque). A Ducati 1098 makes 160hp (r model make 180), while a zx10r makes 200hp.
Ducatis just usually have an extremely usable power band and are balanced perfectly, making them incredible track machines, but power wise, they are down.
Just pointing it out Compared to our 250s, huge power, but compared to everything else, average.

I hear ya. That torquey note just seems too nuts for a bike, to me. I still have a long way to go before I hit a ceiling with this ninja. But that's insane, about the zx-10r. wow.
