Steve - make sure that you don't have it overly stiff. Frankly, it should be almost unnoticeable on the street, and if you are noticing that the same body movement isn't turning the bike the same amount as it used to, it's too stiff.
It's meant to prevent out-of-control tankslappers and perhaps to stabilize a bit of headshake. It doesn't have to be very stiff to do that, and having it overly stiff compromises any quick steering inputs that you may really need to make (evasive swerving for something in the road, for example).

Nice bike...the tail tidy kit really does a nice job of cleaning up the rear of the bike. It looks good.

Steve... do tell.... is the cowl a better product than the 250's poor attachment system? BTW ... modding is an addiction there will be more for you....

You can't lift it up like the 250s And on the 6r the front of the seat is held down by two pins instead of just one |

Welcome to the ZX6 club! It's amazing how many people are moving from the 250 to the zx6.
Be careful with the left engine bolt when putting on the frame sliders. It's an allen bolt that strips really easily. (Ask me how I know!) The right one comes off in a snap. Enjoy the bike. It's a lot of fun. Check out the ninja6zone.com. The people are friendly and the site has some really good info. And if you need the service manual for your bike, let me know. I have an electronic version. |

I got lucky with the engine mount bolts, they both came out with my 3/8" drive rachet with no problems. I got a service manual with the bike One thing i have left to do is the ZZR kickstand swap I'm signed up at ninja6zone but i spend most my time at KF and ZX forums |

You know, I really hate the kickstand. So much in fact, that I bought a 2002 ZX6 stand (same as the ZZR) off of eBay. I just haven't put it on yet. Too lazy. Everyone that looks at the bike comments on how straight it sits when the stand is down. I'm just waiting for it to tip over. It's only a matter of time.

I keep mine on the rear stand in the garage because the stand sucks so much, never thought about changing it though.

The more i think about the crash, and look at my pics, i'm thinking the front end let go first. Got on the gas a little hard and a little early coming out of the turn. I'd just ran this road before twice within an hour of the one that got me. |

That'll buff out!
I know what it's like to eat the pavement (see my thread on the manhole cover that ate me!) on a nice new bike. At least you're ok.

Yikes! I just found this post... really sorry to hear it man!
I know you mentioned the worn front tire.... but if you were on your old 250, with the same tire conditions, do you think it would have played out the same? |

steve mentioned that he was a little early on the throttle coming out of the curve, on our 250s that would take some serious throttle wrenching to get the same effect as 1/3 throttle on the 6R however if it was the front wheel that gave way due to being overly worn, than i think it could happen on any bike... its even more likely to do so on the 250s cos they are so much fun to flick about and lean low with, he he sad to see such a beautiful bike get this damaged. but good thing Steve had his gear on, that saves a LOT of skin... get well and get back up on that horse asap!
