Happy Thanksgiving
A very Happy Thanksgiving to all in the Ninja Family. I, in particular, am thankful for the comraderie, the civility of this forum, the great sharing of information about our machines, the levity and sense of humour we display, and just being there. That's the short list. Enjoy the day. We all have a lot to be thankful for.
Cheers, Alex

Scott, I'll be cooking for 50+ at our Soup Kitchen. We have the place looking great. Even borrowed dishes from a local church--no cafeteria trays, new tablecloths, and a sound system to play "Dinner Music" I have some Oscar Peterson and Thelonious Monk that will work well. We are a very different Soup Kitchen--a bit shocking to some people (That's another story)

Yes, we all should be thankful for what we have... in material and spiritual bounties we all share as a collective community drawn together by a single passion for the ninjette.
What started out as a mere forum for a beloved, little motorcycle has grown into a welcoming spot where friends can post and discuss all aspects of machine and mind in a polite, civil manner. A warm Aloha for all Ninjette members this holiday season... enjoy your time with your loved ones and please, be safe. Alex... a double wish for you to have a great Thanksgiving for a clean bill of health and for giving back so much more than you have received in life. Awesome way to Pay it Forward!! |

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Is anyone cooking for themselves or family? I do the cooking in my house, so I have a busy day ahead of me. What are you guys gonna cook?
I'm doing turkey, gravy, corn, peas, green beans, stuffing, and baking a couple of sugar free pumpkin pies. I don't do mashed potatoes. |

We're going to be cooking our TG dinner at a friends house in an imu. First time for us trying this cooking method, but have heard the results are absolutely mouth watering.
Will be prepping the food and taking it over later this afternoon and pick up the finished products tomorrow morning... yum!!! |

Kelly, You and Alex have done a fantastic job with this forum. It should serve as an example to other webmasters as to how things should be. I have a lot to be grateful for--six years in remission, 25 years of marriage, a lot of material things, and the good fortune to live in a community--a lot like this forum, where people care for each other. The Soup Kitchen has been a challenge. The goal of my hand picked Board of Directors is to have an establishment that in no way resembles what the average Joe percieves a Soup Kitchen to be. Soup Kitchens have Clients--so do hookers and lawyers. We have guests. Our guests dine out in a Bistro like atmosphere (designed by my wife, who is an interior decorator) We have real art on our walls done by local artists. We have tablecloths. Soon we will have subdued lighting. We have a sound system that plays dinner music. Just because our guests may be financially challenged or homeless, does not mean that they can't dine out in a dignified atmosphere like everyone else. This is a social experiment and we are fortunate to have community that supports this project. My goal is to set a new standard in dealing with poverty--admittedly there will be some who will abuse this setup. I do, however, have no plan to abandon or modify this project because a few abuse it. Possibly peer pressure may come in play--who knows? So far, the community response has been overwhelming. In this bad economy, we have raised over 60K since July. No one has ever seen such a groundswell of good will. Just yesterday, our local High School raised $450 and 10 huge boxes of canned goods for our Soup Kitchen. I have absolutely no doubt that the future of this country is secure when I witness this very obvious display of social consciousness in our young people. I have to honestly admit that this outpouring of goodness brought tears to my eyes. Most of my life has seen the seediest side of life beginning being born in what used to be Yugoslavia in the middle of WWII to emigrating to the US--living in an urban slum until we clawed our way out, working a myriad of jobs to get through college, serving as a VISTA Volunteer for a year, and serving in the US Army in Vietnam from 68 to 70 as a combat medic with a Ranger Regiment. It was all worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have come to believe that an individual can make a difference--like a drop of water-creating a ripple and the ripple touches many-and there are more ripples and we begin to realize that we are all linked whether we like it or not. Any action good or bad has that ripple effect and touches everyone. Our mission is to strike a balance where perpetrator and victim can communicate and reach an agreement to restore the balance. We are doing that right here, and I am grateful for living in a community that is receptive to such a "radical" approach. That's a hell of a lot to be thankful for. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Sailariel, I applaud you. I wish everyone could adopt the same principles that you run your 'Bistro' on. It does not take much to turn a dire situation into a desirable one. Even a poor man prays for new stuff too. So, continue doing a great work. Your efforts are appreciated far more than you know.
To everyone on Ninjette.org. Happy Thanksgiving |

We thought our turkey came out great. But after watching this video, I realized that so much more was possible...
