I won a bid for a left side fairing, but...

I'm not buying it! I offered $70 and won. The shipping cost was supposed to be somewhere around $30 or so.. At least that's how much it was listed for when I offered the $70!
Now it's $107 for shipping?! Hell no!

Here's a link to it:
Blue fairing that I'd have to get painted anyway, so it is not be worth it

If the seller is on this site, sorry, bro. I've tried contacting you, but I just keep ending up at the FAQ section of your seller profile.
Why did you change the frikkin' shipping? It was fine the way it was before.
I know some of you will be pissed at me for backing out of this deal after this guy accepted my bid, but I didn't know he was going to suddenly change the damn shipping rates. I don't give a crap if it brings down my "buyer rating." I'm too broke to spend $177 on this fairing.
What do you guys think? Does this make me an a-hole for backing out of the winning bid?

^^^I just did right after posting the OP. Thanks, though. I told him that I can't afford a $177 fairing.
Believe me when I say he changed the shipping rate. It was FAR less than it is now. That's b.s.
I'm a broke @ss college student, so I can't afford to drop $177 on this fairing, which I'll have to get painted as well, so hell no.

Did the confirmation email that you won from ebay have the original shipping price? I looked on some ebay forums, and they pretty much say you are not allowed to change shipping price after the auction has been won.

Looks like he changed it to $107 flat. I put in my zip code (Hawaii, usually an arm and a leg for shipping) and it came up with $107.

If you are worried you can file a seller non-performance claim.

No, it didn't have the original shipping price. Could he have potentially changed it before accepting my bid?

Thanks for that link. I might file a claim. I'm just going to see what the seller has to say first.

Hmmm I guess he can. If the seller doesn't contact you back and agree to let you off with no repercussions, I would go ahead and file the non performance and state that the seller changed the shipping before accepting your offer.

Most of the time shipping is for the 48 contiguous US so that might be why your shipping increased when he found out you are in Hawaii. Is it possible you didn't notice that part of the listing?

Worst comes to worst, you get a negative feedback.

Sellers haven't been able to leave negative feedback for a while now. sellers were using them as blackmail, where if you left bad feedback they would reciprocate.

I meant no harm to OP. I agree with Vampyre: definitely try to contact him so you wouldn't have to deal with the negative feedback part. Hope everything turns out well.

Yeah the op is the buyer, so the seller can't leave visible negative feedback for him (beyond non paying strike, which I believe you get 3)

The reason you ended up in the FAQ is that some questions can be answered first that way. You basically have to say "no, it did not answer my question" to get a real contact link.
