Crazy Man on the loose!
This still blows my mind, but what do you expect....people are nutz and we have to remember that as motorcyclist.
I went up to my local canyon a few weeks ago...Sat morning 7:45am before anyone was really there. Yes it gets crowded since GMR is probably the best twisty in So Cal. I brought along my FLip video camera and small 3 inch tripod to get some action shots on some cornering. I set up my camera...not on the road itself, but on a banked curb that was at least 6 inches off the ground. If you were driving by you'd see it although it only stands 7 inches high at the most. I made a few runs around my favorite turn and noticed a gentleman in an older Ford going back and forth on the road. I thought it was odd...him being there so early...white/silver haired fella....maybe in his 60s. I made another small run and noticed he parks about 20 feet up. Maybe he's taking a rest...his pacemaker was acting up...he needed his Geritol...who knows....I come down...hit the turn......go back up and notice my camera lying on the ground. I didn't think much of it since there have been times when the wind has knocked it over.....I get off my bike...walk over ...pick it up and notice it as extreme dents in it...the screen where you view what you're videotaping is cracked!!!!!!! I then realize...it was Old Man Crazy that parked that had something to do with it. I get on my bike....head back down because on my last turn I noticed while he went down and I went up...he looked a lil suspicious. We were only 2 minutes from the main road so he was easily gone. When I got home...I plugged my camera into my cimputer and voila it worked!!!! My wife and I sat back and watched this a-hole...wait for me to go by....make a wide turn....jump the curb in his truck....and run over the camera. In a sense it was comical and strange. The camera still works...but the man in the Ford doesn't know what's coming to him. Even after 2 weeks have gone by I still do not know what would posses someone to do that. I've been back to GMR since but haven't seen him. I'm planning on taking this footage to the CHP....the camera itself isn't a lot of money....it's the principle of the matter. Check out these pics....I have it on video, but it shows his license plate and I don't want that to go public. When you see it on tape...it's mind blowing. I did leave the first number in his plate visible so if you're a GMR regular like me....better watch out for this psycho. I am sure he pouring kitty liter all over the twisties as we speak! I don't know what I would do if I saw him up there again....he would definitely be confronted. He thinks he got away with it but he didn't. My wife and I have a few theories as to why he did this.....what's yours? hahahaa |

That's ridiculous. Crazy you caught it on tape. Pretty dumb if he intentionally did it considering he's running over a camera. Atleast run it over from the backside.
Let us know how it turns out. Not sure if cops can really do anything about it. Anybody from law enforcement can chime in? |

I doubt the cops will do anything, because the camera was on the side of the road. They might go talk to him but as far as any punishment you would be lucky with a traffic ticket and anyone bold enough to stalk a popular area waiting for a chance to do harm isn't going to be deterred by a small fine.
That being my best guess I would wait till the cops dont do anything and send the video and story to the local news with some fancy action words, maybe they could do a little better on the story. |

In the video...he makes a WIDE turn....goes up on the curb....runs it over perfectly or rather imperfectly as I have the footage....
I just want to know why? I don't care about a fine or a ticket...just want to confront him about it and ask the question....I should post it on YouTube so you can see how deliberate it was. It wasn't an "accident" thats for sure. I like the local news idea! |

Damn, that's definitely a b*tch move. You're a good guy for blocking out his license plate number. I would've posted that ish everywhere and even asked people to help me find out where this d-bag lives.
He had no reason for doing what he did. Little rat bastard.

I saw the videos over dinner at Adrian's the other night.
I'm straight up appalled. The guy literally went out of his way to run over Adrian's camera. Up the foot tall 40* angled inside barrier wall! There would be no other excuse for what he did unless he was doing it on purpose or shytfaced drunk and target fixated on the camera. Seriously crazy. I bet you money it's a local who hates the bikers riding through the neighborhood. I read a big thing about all the neighbors fighting with all the people on the bottom of GMR who ride bikes. They don't like us squids cause we aren't pro on the track. Lots of people be roostin' exhaust down below in the 'hood also pissin' folks off. When some people make that right hand corner on to GMR they just begin right away right there and full throttle their upgraded exhaust right through the end of the neighborhood and the neighbors get angry. Think about it all day long at GMR if you lived there you'd be pissed too lol. Go look for that dude's truck right down in the immediate neighborhood. lol My last name isn't Holmes for nothing, Sherlock.

What an a-hole. Encountered one of those in the NC mountains this weekend...he, too, was in a big ol' truck. And it's not the first time. Seems like big ol' truckers don't care for lil' sportbikes.

Hahahahaaa
Let me edit it and it be posted.....I don't think the cops would do anything to this guy....I've been back to the scene of the crime 4 times now and haven't seen him. I've memorized his license plate and the make and model of his vehicle..... One day.....he will get what's coming to him...a good ole fashion yellin' at....hahahhaaa..... The sick part of this dude is that he saw me riding back and forth....this was all premeditated! |

I'm guessing the old man hates bikers and trashing the [potentially expensive] property of a biker made him feel good. Whatever his reasoning... he's a dick!
I just hope he doesn't do anything more than that. It's horrible to think that people make the road slippery to try and cause bikers to wipe out. I think it's good you haven't shown his plate. Try not to give him too much hate when you find him... there's too much of that in this world already. If he already has a thing about bikers and you confront him in an angry manor, it will probably just reinforce his prejudice and may escalate his retaliation against GMR riders. Also... did you get any nice shots before the camera-crushing? Post em' up!! |
