Changed out the decals on my Ninjette. Started it late last night and finished it early this morning, so I guess you could technically consider it today
Half way through progress pics can be found here. The final product pics to come in that thread tonight. |

I think my decals protects my fairings from extra rashing I installed my new BT-16s. What a world of difference in riding and handling!

Stared at it while wondering why it wasn't getting fuel yesterday, but ran fine after repeatedly trying to crank it up and finally came to life.

Working on my valve job...well checking valve lash. It's literally freezing outside. I might as well install my Dynojet Stage 2 jet kit now.
Went with Vex's DIY as I didnt see the need to drain the coolant or oil. http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9787 Doesn't look like I'm running too lean. Factory jetting and airbox with full exhaust.

Attempted to rejet. Holy crap! I did not know you have to remove the airbox to replace the jets! OMFG. I have not remove the airbox yet. I'm going to call it a day. The whole Apartment smells like gasoline now.

Ended up staying up. Bike's jetted with DJ stage 2. 3rd clip with 2 washers on top. Running the DJ 98 jets. Pulled the airbox back to pull the carbs out. I ended up boogering one of the screws for one of the bowls with the Milwaukee offset screwdriver. A quick zip with the dremel fixed the screw and I was able to back it out with a flathead screw driver.

Replaced my malfunctioning front brake light switch and rode about 40 miles in the freezing cold.
Then locked up the front brake and nearly wrecked, but I kept it on 2 wheels. Need to put on my r6 throttle tube soon, and pickup my replacement left handlebar controls to fix what broke when I dropped it, and the clutch safety switch to fix WHY I dropped it. Once snowboarding season starts and I'm willing to put her down for a nap, she's getting a valve adjustment, carb cleaning and jetting, pod filters, and attempting to modify the stock exhaust cans for more sound. |

if you're going to do that, at least get the danmoto slipon so you can take advantage of the bike losing a few pounds. Removing the snorkel also makes intake noise, and if you shim, it will add some zoom power too

Anyone know if Ninja 500 cans will work on a pre-gen? There are a few more aftermarket options for 500s, and both bikes have dual exhaust |

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't even see that you had a pre-gen like me. I was talking as I was typing and never really read the whole thing. I got my two brothers pipes for about 300 with free shipping.

I hooked up the laptop computer and adjusted the cranking rpm setting on my fuel injected 2005 EX-250.
Then I data-logged a cold start up and short ride with the new setting. Will study it while I fly a two day trip Friday and Saturday (overnights at the Kansas City International Airport Marriott hotel are pretty boring). I think I'm also going to have to reduce the warmup enrichment setting in the 20 to 40 degree temperature range, the O2 sensor display gauge was giving me high 9s and low 10s during the first minute or so of the ride. That's just too rich. That'll be easy to fix, just more laptop work. I figure I'll have this thing perfectly tuned for cold weather startups by the about mid January if it doesn't snow too much. That's what I did to my Ninja today. |

you also dont need to move the airbox to remove the carb, im 100% sure of that. seems like your taking the long cut by trying to avoid removing the carbs, lol you could do with a little more space to work in too id go mad being sandwiched between the bike and a wall like that, lol

Long cut it was brotha! It was havoc on my lower back working in that tight of space. No garage sucks. Did not get to test ride it yet since I had to leave out of town. It did take forever to start though.

the rubber boot on the air box side is long enough and flexible enough that you can sorta bend/pry the carb out that way. its like that on quite a lot of bikes i think~

Went for a quick ride with the wife then winterized both 250s. The 05s are so much easier to work on. The 09 took me the longest, as the plastics have to come off and such. drained the bowls, clean/lube the chains, stabil the gas tanks, lubed the forks, removed the batteries, and gave them a wash. Now the wait for spring begins.

Removed an old ugly tank pad the previous owner installed,
did a full light polish on the tank + fairings. Put down a coat of wolfgang paint sealant, used a protectant on the plastics (aerospace 303) , cleaned as much as I could pretty much. Wiped the rear wheel down and soon ill wipe the front wheel down (remove brake dust) and let it sit and let the sealant do its job. Tomorrow morning Im putting another thick coat of sealant over the tank+fairings and a thick coat on both rims ... let it cure through out the day then put a nice coat of wax that night. Bike is looking brand spanking new! Then from there ill be getting my frame sliders soon so ill have to remove my fairings, hoping i dont get it too dirty, but when everything is back together, ill give it one last wipe down and one last coat of wax ! Bike will be super clean waiting for next riding season. |

I have a bottle of 303 that I use on my Kevlar canoe, never thought about using it on my bike. Will have to give it a try. Where you located in Canada, we were making plans today for our trip to Quetico next June.

Put my new exhaust on yesterday. I was a bit surprised how loud it was, but it sounds great. Guess now the kleen system removal and jetting is next. It ran surprisingly well even though I haven't jetted yet.

Yeah, my bike seemed fine with the full exhaust with no rejet or shimming. It's a hit and miss on these bikes. I don't know anyone who has the 18" version to compare the 12" with.

Mines is the 18", I'll probably rejet it thursday, but it seems like it doesn't need as big a main jet as I expected.

Than I would say that they would be perfect for the plastics on your bike to keep them looking fresh and help prevent fading. This is all I use on anything plastic on my vehicles. I like it so much that I actually order mine from the states, since no local retailer carries them. GREAT product though, you'll probably read a lot of great reviews about it on autopia. |

Just got done installing an Area P 12" CF full system
Was so easy getting stock system off, but the new header pipes where a bear to get on Eventually I thought I had it good fired it up and I didn't feel any exhaust leaks near header pipe. However it got pretty warm in there fast, but tried it a second time and still didn't notice any airflow coming from that area. OMG is the sound awesome.. a bit louder than I thought it would've been via dB levels listed on their site, but it now sounds like a damn motorcycle Sat- Mount both new Sport Demons |

I couldn't figure out how to get the carbs out for a bit while I worked on it today, but the way to do it (and I checked this in the manual) is to loosen a couple of screws that hold the airbox and then sliding it backwards. Then it should be able to be wiggled out. Still a pain since you have to remove even more stuff to get to the airbox mounting bolts.

Replaced the carb bowl screws with 16mm long M4 hex key screws. Tried them out in all the diaphragm cap screws holes also and they fit, so I'll go out and get 8 more soon to replace the diaphragm cap screws. All my screws were looking a little like they were gonna strip
