I've been riding the zx6 to work. But, the weather will be decent this weekend. If I get the 250 back out of the shop, I may head out for a quick spin to Luray.

Has everyone retired for the year? I'm still riding. If you want to go on any rides, I'm down and I will organize.

I still ride, but I can't do any trips until the end of my school semester. MAD busy this time of year.

I just retired the bike today. Honestly it doesn't really bother me too much to ride in this weather but, frankly, I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I should and the extra effort involved really makes it not worth it to me. So, come early march, I'll pull the bike back out once again.

I'm still riding, but trips are a bit shorter; don't have all the heated gear my skinny self needs to keep from freezin.

ooh yeah. turns out the law can't stop me! actually the officer kinda told me it wasn't a big deal. he asked that I just keep the ticket he gave me on my person in case I get pulled over again. Though, the more I ride, the more I'm willing to invest in some clip-ons and heated grips. maybe a new windscreen, too. also I'm all kinds of excited because I put air back in my front tire (hadn't noticed it was way flat until my rim touched ground on a turn into my house). I only need to think about leaning and the bike's already done it. I'm such a noob lol
My limit seems to be if it's below 45ish. or if there's lots of ice on the road. or if there's lots of sand on the road (so, right after it snows). or if I wake up late for work. or if it's raining and I really don't feel like getting wet that day....

Sunday meetup
Sounds good Franco. An early morning ride is a good look. Let me know what time works for you and if meeting around Oakton works for you. Curious about some of the roads in Old town Vienna.

sunday meetup
morning's aren't normally my friend, but for the sake of riding, I think I can make an exception . oakton sounds fine. one of my best friends lives there (I forget the name of the road, I think it's Vale Rd?) where abouts did you wanna meet...? movie theater? where the baha fresh and moby dick's restaurant is? I can't bring to mind what else is there. (ps, you might have to lead since I have a downright AWFUL sense of direction) lol

I'm really liking the GoPro, even with it being the lowest model. I looked into the Contour but went with the gopro just just because of the number of mount possibilities and general video/audio quality, I found to be a little better. I dont know what format the other shoot in though, as gopro shoots in mp4 and I've had troublr trying to edit it, I'd like to get a good editing program as thats the main thing holding back the quality of the test video that I made.

Nothing has really stopped me from riding/commuting except for that one afternoon that snowed and my wife had to pick me up from my office (forecast that day was just rain but turned out snowing) and one day that it was 12F. I rode at 17F last Monday and it was COLD but it was bearable for my 25min commute.

I hate salt on the roads. I'm hoping this rain tomorrow will wash most of it away. Until, no riding for me. It's too cold to be washing the bike every other day.
If it is a good rain, I will be riding on Saturday. Mid-50's, which is super comfortable riding weather! |

congrats on getting your bike! the main thing is practice clutch control and slow speed maneuvers (u turns & slalom) and emergency stops. that's what they'll be focusing on at the MSF. start getting used to balancing your rear brake, throttle, and clutch. those are skillz fo' lyfe. lol.

I live in Ocean City MD (Eastern Shore), if you guys do a ride somewhere on "my side" of Bay Bridge, I would love to join you at least once for a large ride.
Also keep in mind the huge bike week event that we have here (in Ocean City) in September. It would be awesome if we could have a bunch of Ninjettes here zipping around on Bike week!

If anyone wants to plan a little event, who is close to Ocean City.
There is a spring bike fest with the dates of April 26-29. http://www.oceancitybikestothebeach.com/

Fantastic weather we have been having as of late! A little on the warm side at stops, but great otherwise. I'm thinking it's time for a group ride to help break in the new season.
Just need to get a meeting place, time, and route down. Anyone want to help me out with this one? I'm not a terribly good planner~ BUT I'm thinking somewhere towards the mountains as far as a route & meetup place is concerned. As far as a good time to meetup... most likely a day out of the weekend? |

Now that I've had a few weeks to brush off some of the rust on my skills, I'd say it's just about time for a group ride.
Perhaps next weekend? |

I would, but all the areas I know are north of me and you all seem to be coming from the south to begin with. I don't really know of many good roads down that way.

Ok, gauging some somewhat short term interest. Next weekend is looking very nice from the 10 day forecast, approx 70* a few days in a row. So I'm thinking either Friday 4/6 or Sunday 4/8
Options: North Baltimore County, starting in Towson, MD, a ride through the Loch Raven area then heading north to Pretty Boy Reservoir or Another ride near Frederick, just this time I'll have gps and will show up on time as to not miss everyone like last time What do you think guys? I'll start a seperate thread once we get an idea going. |

I am definitely interested in a noob friendly ride if anyone wants to help me out. I live right downtown, dumped my brand new (well, new to me) bike on 16th St. yesterday (see separate thread), and need to learn how not to die in DC while I learn to ride. Anyone who would be willing to take me out and teach me some things would be greatly appreciated. I'd be absolutely thrilled with the idea of a group ride out of the area, but I feel like I would die on the way there.
Tomorrow morning (probably circa 8-10 AM), I am going to take myself up to the hospital parking lots north of the McMillan Reservoir (Google Maps coords: 38.927954, -77.012556) to practice. If anyone is around, please come by. |
