was on my to work 20 mins from my house and was doing 75 or so noticed drop in throttle response so i down shifted and as i got into first the engine cut out- pulled to side of road tried restarting a few times but no throttle response(+low response) then thought id adjust the throttle cable and it started and i heard a lil clacking so i thought id better get back home...
The bike never got out of 35mph even though i was in 5th - car was behind me so i pulled over but as soon as i got into first again bike shut off- after trying to restart a few times called AAA- tried again after 10 mins to start bike and it wants to start but its going clack clack clack-after firing- i think- |

Did you do the lilipop Kev? It' sso hard on a SS! wtf!
They did this on purpose. lol it's a scam. I can do it on the 750 but it will take me a month of practice before I can do it every time. At least a month. I have the MSF money sitting right here but you know how stubborn I am..

Is there any diagnosis of why it went wrong? I have a ninja sitting right here collecting dust with a bent frame and a perfect motor... maybe we can work something out. I kinda need to sell the damn thing. I'm moving and need to unload a bunch of junk to be a biker on the move.

Bring that sucker in! Let them handle it.
I got a noise in my bike right now nobody wants to admit exists. Driving me nuts but trying to ignore it while being a mechanic is not possible. Even though the real mechanics couldn't find it either and said it sounds like I know my stuff. I don't doubt my mechanics skills at all now. I gotta call Suzuki sooner or later. Monday. I tried looking for upgrade conical steering bearings but nobody has parts for my bike yet. I don't get it. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough..

I need to borrow your dashboard! I sold mine. I don't think the DMV will go for it. lol
I would still have to register and insure the thing too. Nope. I'm gonna be stubborn and do it on the 7fiddy practice practice practice According to my temporary license I have a year to get it down perfect every time. lol The fact that it's possible and I understand how to ride without dropping my bike when I'm not messing around means I can save $250 on the MSF if I practice riding my bike and pass the test. Fine by me!

OK I got the DMV test down perfect on my 750.
I must have done it twenty times both ways today. The easiest way is to counter lean instead of lean in. I don't use any brakes or even any clutch like they say you should in the DMV video. I just let it coast along it first gear. I do use a tiny bit of throttle to even the bike out when it is going uphill in the circle though. It's actually a lot easier than I thought it would be to get it down! Time to schedule my appointment and smoke this exam and get my hard copy license. I got more video today if anyone is interested but I doubt it.

Well if i didn't just crash my computer trying to get it to load high quality .MOV files from my iphone I'd throw up a video for you but honestly it's more of the same thing... just going through the DMV course over and over.
I'll be more happy to show you the license I earned by practicing the test over and over to get the GSX-R through the lolipop without taking the MSF course. Monday at 8:30am I take the final test. I'm fairly confident. I think I got it down. You have to get into a funny position of counterlean but it works.. I was turning it tighter than the circle yesterday!

What I really wanted to show you guys was the Coyote crossing my path on Idyllwild today on my ride up the hill after my DMV practice. But it appears I forgot to hit the record button on my iphone. Either that or it was set to take pictures and I only got a picture of the start of the run... no video of the coyote who crossed my path then slowed down and stopped to watch me pass by. NEato
Had a couple hotties watching me go through the DMV course at one point it was pretty cool. This bike attracts looks for sure. Specially when all suited up in the matching Suzuki jacket. On the old 99 SRAD I had girls asking me for numbers at stop lights. lol The 2011 I've gotten a few waves from girls in cars but no real screamers yet. hahaha Love the attention but gotta ignore the girls cause they'll crash you in front of them. I get dudes yelling at stop lights for me to do wheelies but I'm sitting there thinking of how crappy my bike would look if I flipped it over in front of everyone in an intersection. Gotta ignore everyone on this bike or they'll all crash you! It attracts tons of attention! PS I called suzuki about the noise and no help! They want me to keep taking it to different dealers until somebody finds the noise and figures out what it is! That's crazy... the dealers around here are complete IDIOTS! I already tried... If I can't figure it out surely none of these knuckleheads can do it. I've had the whole headset apart and been all the way into the bearings and everything regreased them and checked the races and couldn't find anything on my own. I may try bringing it to Chaparral but the kids in there workin on my bikes freak me out bigtime. I'm worried about people getting tool marks and scratches on this pristine bike. I've had it apart 20 times myself and didn't manage to scratch anything yet. Some guy working on the clock doesn't care if he gets a tiny ding he doesn't even notice in my bike. Then I'll be stuck with it. I'm too anal. Don't touch my shyt. lol Looks like I'm stuck figuring out the noise myself. Considering others have the noise on their 2011 and nobody else can figure it out either, I'm not too worried. I'm kinda just riding around with the noise. I can't ignore it though.. Maybe I can try and get the noise on video. Happens every time on this one bump in my driveway and over the train tracks.

To be honest...
The noise is fixable one way or another. Everything can be fixed if it can't be replaced. If the noise is a bearing, I'll replace all the bearings and races eventually. If it's a fork clamp or steering tube, I'll replace those eventually too. No big deal. If the noise continues, it's the frame. In which case I can shim the races in the frame to stop the noise. If the noise continues, it's the forks. I haven't been inside any forks yet so not much I can do about that one until I try all the other stuff. Any way I look at it, I can fix the noise whatever it is. I just need to find out what the hell it is and I'll be set! then I can keep on living the 2011 GSXR 750 dream. As long as my motor isn't messed up I'm good to go for 26,000 miles.. ...chasing "noises" can be a bit of a PITA though is all. I've heard people replace their engines for reasons like this and it didn't solve their issue. lol. Hope I'm not on that track. For me it wouldn't be the engine though. My noise comes from the front end. I'm sure it's fixable when I figure out what it is. It doesn't seem to effect the performance of the bike, but it's rather annoying and loud and you feel it. Doesn't seem like it should be there. It just wants to drive me nuts is all. Trying not to let it. I have to keep remembering others have it too and their mechanics can't find it either. It's not just me. Gotta use logic. If it's not a bad noise, then I'd like to know what kind of good noise it is. What is making it. Nobody knows.

what makes you think the noise is bad? what does it sound like? only when you go over a bump? from scanning what you wrote it sounds like maybe your swing arm pivot or linkage needs lube... have you tried compressing the suspension through its full travel? if you know it always happens when you do something specific (go over train tracks) you should be able to figure out which end of the bike at least it comes from. should be fairly easy to track it down from there... what does it sound like? squeak? whine? groan? scrape? whistle? low vibration? pinging?
maybe its the train tracks themselves making the noise.

No clunk is good on a bike lol.
It happens in my driveway also and on certain bumps around town. Basically any bump that will make it do the noise it will do the noise. Not just train tracks. In and out of driveways around town etc. It does not exhibit normal head bearing play characteristics. That is why the shop can't find it. I've properly adjusted it to the T by the book and still funny noise. Comin' from the front end. I've had the whole thing apart. It was doing it before I took the whole thing apart, so I'm not the cause. I even took digital pictures of each head bearing and race to inspect than closer than I could by naked eye by zooming in. I don't see the slightest bit of any deformity in the frame or races or bearings. You'd think if I was running around knocking head bearings or races in the frame there'd be some shavings or something. Nothing..

Damn!
Why's it gotta be raining today when I need to go to the DMV to get extra practice to be sure I pass my test on Monday? Hopefully it's dry tomorrow otherwise I may move my test back again in light of one or two more days practice.

PArt of the test is they want you to ride down, shift up two gears, shift down two gears, make a u-turn around the lolipop and then come back, shifting up twice and then back down twice. In a ridiculously small area... PS I think the circle outside diameter is 21-22 feet for those of you who'd like to try at home! Get out some chalk and give it a try. It's actually pretty good to learn this. Practice makes perfect. They have a figure eight there that I can do also. It's pretty tight I think both loops are 21-22 foot diameter also but you have to flip flop to complete the figure eight. I wanna see somebody do it on an 800lb goldwing.

I got 3 minor faults but 2 of them were totally false... the testing guy was obviously just blind or tired or something. 1 fault was myself... I didn't get up to speed for the first avoidance test. It was only a 125CC and I was even more noob than I am now, so it was pretty hard to do. I had to pin the throttle. My instructor said that generally the women are better than the men at the slow speed, balance orientated stuff, and the men are better at the fast speed stuff. |

Yes I've always heard the ladies are on balance.
Seems like they usually have their stuff together more than me anyways. All I can do is try and keep up and hope for the best! This test was much easier on the ninja. I think they designed it to be hard on super sport bikes. I don't know if a more grippy surface would help or hurt! I just wish it wasn't on a freakin' hill! What's up with that! I have to fly through the circle no clutch.

+1. That BMW looks the part of a full grown, adult sport touring bike more so than the Goldwing. The Goldwing is a lazyboy on wheels practically.
